00:00 - 00:01
Hello,
00:01 - 00:03
my name is Josie McCullough and I am recording this
00:03 - 00:07
video for my college one oh one summer 22 class.
00:07 - 00:10
I am making this video to supply advice for
00:10 - 00:14
the upcoming freshman as they start their cascadia journey.
00:14 - 00:17
Um to note none of the photo media is my own and
00:17 - 00:21
no further use of the media is allowed without content of the copyright
00:22 - 00:26
holder. So let's get started with my first piece of advice.
00:26 - 00:30
I first recommend you set up a meeting with your cascadia advisor
00:30 - 00:35
by getting a plan in directing your attention towards a degree.
00:35 - 00:38
Can help you get motivated by knowing what credits you need
00:38 - 00:41
and how far away you are from completing your goal.
00:41 - 00:45
Moving on to a higher education or being satisfied with your associates degree.
00:45 - 00:50
You can schedule an appointment through zoom or you can visit the kodiak corner
00:50 - 00:54
to get in person interaction with your cascadia advisor.
00:54 - 00:57
Next tip I suggest is changing up your study location.
00:57 - 01:01
Um it can get overwhelming when you have so much in front of you.
01:01 - 01:03
So I said just just changing up your scenery.
01:03 - 01:08
Um I recommend visiting the cascadia library where we have three floors.
01:08 - 01:10
You can change between floors.
01:10 - 01:16
Or you can visit the various study rooms for quiet time to focus or
01:16 - 01:19
you can interact with the other students because we share the library with the
01:19 - 01:20
bottle.
01:21 - 01:24
My next piece of advice is to remember to take some breaks.
01:24 - 01:28
It can get so overwhelming when you have so much in front of you working on.
01:28 - 01:31
So it's nice to refresh your mind.
01:31 - 01:34
I recommend going to the activities and recreational
01:34 - 01:37
center we offer at cascadia where you can find
01:37 - 01:42
the center, video games and other activities. You can also interact with others
01:42 - 01:45
to get that social engagement um Studies
01:45 - 01:48
show physical activity can benefit you mentally.
01:49 - 01:51
This would be rather helpful for resetting your head space to create
01:51 - 01:54
a new approach to studying when you start to feel overwhelmed.
01:55 - 01:59
Lastly I recommend creating a routine for yourself.
01:59 - 02:02
It can get so overwhelming when you have so many assignments.
02:02 - 02:06
So I have found that it was very useful to create a calendar for
02:06 - 02:10
my week by setting up all the assignments and the due dates for those.
02:10 - 02:15
So I can easily feel organized and view all my assignments in one place.
02:15 - 02:20
Um Richard shows that cramming everything in at one time is highly ineffective.
02:20 - 02:23
So it's nice to set time aside for each assignment
02:23 - 02:24
and each day.
02:24 - 02:27
So you know what to work on without feeling overwhelmed with
02:27 - 02:30
too many assignments and trying to do it all last minute
02:31 - 02:37
to complete this video Here are some of the sources that I use to treat
02:37 - 02:44
information to get the best um advice for you guys and college students in general.
02:45 - 02:50
I also use these links to access the pictures on the slides
