Please review the syllabus with your parent/guardian(s). You can watch the video I made explaining the syllabus.
Once you have reviewed it, you must complete the Google Survey on Google Classroom to acknowledge you've read and agree to the expectations. You must also include contact information of your parent/guardian(s).

hello, algebra students.
It's miss.
Three was coming at you from your computer screen.
Let's go over the syllabus for this year so we
can learn math together and prepare you for high school.
So, as you can see, we have our class description.
So along with algebra, you are gonna be also learning
the eighth period standards which build on the things you
learn in seventh grade and take it a step further.
If you want to know more, you can scan the
Q R code here with your phone and I'll take
you to a website.
All the skills here to the right from the mathematical
practices are things we've been building on since elementary school.
Can you make sense of problems?
Can you reason making argument?
Make models use the appropriate tools Attend to precision, Check
your mistakes.
Ah, look for common structure and express your reasoning.
Um, in addition to all of this, we will be
using different programs.
Our main program will be the Acela's online program, which
I will explain to you guys more in the following
weeks. So the algebra focus areas are modeling with functions,
linear functions, quadratic functions and algebraic manipulation.
So everything we learned about solving equations and seventh grade,
we're gonna take that and expand that into these other
models. Okay, so now I'm gonna move on to online
Learning platform.
The major major major thing we will be learning are
start using Is Google Classroom.
Okay? This is something that you should check on a
daily basis.
And to do that, you use your gmail and your
Google password, which you've had for the last two years.
If you're new, um, you should have gotten it from
your a teacher.
Um, these air some other programs will use I excel
in. I ready.
I would say that these are the major ones we're
gonna use for now.
And if we learn any other ones, then I will
add them to the Google classroom so you can check
for them.
You can also download the app on your phone, cause
some people it's easier for them to check it if
they get notifications on their phone.
I personally do that, and it's really helpful when I
get new assignments or see that people have made announcements
attendants. So we're not going to be in school every
day, But you're still responsible for checking in the virtual
classroom, which is Google Classroom, so you'll have to log
in for attendance within the 1st 5 minutes of your
scheduled period.
So you have your class schedules, and so throughout the
day you'll have four classes that you should check in
for. Um, if you're having a problem with assignments, you're
still responsible for completing them, and you can contact me
on my email or Google Classroom and Google meets will
also be happening where we can't see each other like
face to face in a video conference.
And I'll be scheduling that, Um, and I'll give you
guys more details, but just know that you should be
expected to check in at least once a week for
your attendance.
Now I'm going to go into the things that you're
going to be graded on this year.
The different assignments first is your distance learning activities, which
will be you guessed it on Google classroom, and you
should expect 3 to 4 assignments posted every week.
Now it is required that you do at least three
of them, and because this is an algebra class, I
expect you guys to be doing all four assignments that
I a sign.
The more you practice, the better you're gonna get when
it comes to the quizzes on the test, so make
sure you practice practice practice.
You should also be responsible for keeping notes while you
watch videos while you do activities, so that you can
learn from the examples and learn from your mistakes.
You will be turning in notebooks, and you can choose
whether you turn them in.
Um, you create one digitally or if you create one
in a physical form, that means like a traditional notebook,
that you'll have to take pictures of an upload onto
Google Classroom.
Now I can show you guys different ways to make
digital notebooks, um, on Google slides or making a website.
I'm sure you guys can come with loss of creative
ideas, but in general we're going to be using this
rubric. So as long as it has all of these
categories, it's organized.
You have the essential questions and you summarize your notes,
and you should prove that you are practicing the problems
by doing example problems.
Then you will get a good score.
But what's more important than a good score?
is being able to use these notes so that you
can do well on formative and Summit of assessments, which
you might also know as quizzes and tests.
So you'll have formative on a weekly basis.
Some of them will just be practiced, and I won't
grade them for accuracy.
But I will tell you when.
Okay, this is gonna be a formative assessment.
That's great.
It like a quiz, and you'll have lots of practice
before then so you can do well.
Some of assessments will come at the end of a
unit, and it almost be a longer examiner test or,
in some cases, a project or a presentation.
Um, here's an example of how you can be grated
using a success criteria.
So it goes from 123 and four.
If it's a four, that means that you are really
proficient, and you can also explain this to others like
you are the teacher.
If you got it, you you got it consistently can
get it right, but you might not be at the
level where you feel comfortable teaching it to others or
explaining your reasoning.
Two is you are still learning from your mistakes and
one is help.
You really don't understand.
You need to go back and review your notes or
be re taught the lesson.
So if you ever get graded down here a tour
one, it doesn't have to stay like that.
It shouldn't say like that.
You should actually make corrections so that you can get
a three or a four.
Right? Any time you get the great you don't want
or does or you want to improve, you have the
right to do so and correct your mistakes.
Okay, which brings me to grating.
You can get all of your grades on infinite campus.
If you scan this Q R code, it'll take you
straight to the infinite campus.
You have 24 access.
You should have your user name and password.
Um, if you need to request a new one, you
can go on the color hall website and do that.
Parents can also come on to infinite campus anytime and
check your grades.
So I already talked about some motives.
Those air, like your tests and projects those air 35%
your grade formative are the grated quizzes.
Those air 30% of your grade and all the practice,
the distance learning activities.
You're I m b, which is your notebook.
All of that will be 35% of your great.
So this last section right here, I don't grade for
accuracy. Like if you get things right or wrong, I
don't minus points.
It's all about completing the task and doing participation, because
this is the time for you to practice.
So if you put in the work, then you should
get the results on your quizzes for motives and your
tests. The summit if's okay, um, and algebra is a
high school course, so you'll be taking the end of
course exam, and 15% of the final year will reflect
the student performance.
So at the final, you need to pass this in
order to be recommended for algebra two.
You should get a beer better, and then you can
go to algebra two, or in some cases, you might
go to geometry.
Um, if you don't meet this criteria, you'll need to
repeat this class.
So it's really important that you do well on this
because it can determine, um, what class you take next
year? Okay, contact information.
So you can find me on Instagram.
Some of you have already found me.
I will do announcements.
I will put homework help up there.
I will also give some opportunities for extra credit.
Um, and my Gmail.
Anyone can contact me on my Gmail.
I will respond within 24 hours as long as it
is a week day.
However, if it's a weekend or a holiday, you'll have
to wait until the next school day for me to
answer. And in case we do, come on campus or
you need to come on campus because you don't have
technology. You there is a form where you fill up
technology access form, and when you're on campus, all of
these will be followed.
Everyone will be six feet apart.
No one will share supplies.
Students and teachers must wear mask at all times.
All the surfaces will be sanitized and screens.
Teachers will be screening students for Cove in 19.
You may also have your temperature taken.
So, um, things were changing rapidly and there may be
no meeting in person or we might meet in person.
Um, mid September or maybe in January I will keep
you updated on this But this is the most current
information I have at the time of me recording this
video. So just know that if we are on campus,
we will follow all of these guidelines as per the
CD scene.
So that's the syllabus.
If you want to re watch it again, be my
guest. Um, I look for its in meeting you guys.
Most importantly, Stay safe and remember, dude, be nice.
