00:01 - 00:05
Hey, and welcome to this session, which is entry into
00:05 - 00:11
content. Today we're going to be looking at Prezi, and
00:12 - 00:14
we're using that as our tool for entry.
00:15 - 00:18
The purpose of this session, as mentioned, is to really
00:19 - 00:20
differentiate the content entry.
00:21 - 00:25
Using Prezi suite of service is your expected outcome is
00:25 - 00:28
that you're going to be creating a lesson introduction.
00:28 - 00:30
Remember what entry talks about?
00:30 - 00:33
Entry is speaking to the statement of instructional purpose.
00:35 - 00:38
Embedded in that is that hallway experience, that social emotional
00:39 - 00:41
experience that when the kids are walking in the room
00:42 - 00:46
when students air entering into your content conversation, how are
00:46 - 00:51
we creating a safe learning environments, respectful learning environments and
00:51 - 00:56
making a personal connection even in maybe an asynchronous situation?
00:58 - 01:00
So we're going to create a video to do that.
01:01 - 01:03
We're gonna use Prezi video for that.
01:03 - 01:06
We're also going to consider the component of visual vocabulary
01:07 - 01:09
or vocabulary in general.
01:10 - 01:17
Um, you should have down Wow, You should have downloaded
01:18 - 01:22
the 21 different programs to be used for visual vocabulary.
01:23 - 01:25
But in this session, we're going to talk about what's
01:26 - 01:29
known as a Freyre model ah, model for vocabulary development.
01:30 - 01:34
That is really development.
01:34 - 01:38
That is really a great organizational tool for your students
01:39 - 01:43
and something that also develops the visual A ZX well,
01:43 - 01:47
as some of the verbal of aspects of vocabulary development.
01:48 - 01:49
And then last but not least, we're going to get
01:49 - 01:53
into multiple entry points as starters or content do now,
01:54 - 01:58
and talk about how they work with access and providing
01:58 - 02:01
access and equity for all students to get into the
02:01 - 02:05
conversation. And then last but not least, we're going to
02:05 - 02:09
get into multiple entry points, as do now's or starters
02:10 - 02:12
to enter kids into the content conversation.
02:13 - 02:17
So the idea of content entry okay is the the
02:17 - 02:21
social emotional connection to you to the teacher to the
02:22 - 02:27
classroom, to the learning environment, to collaborative experiences, the development
02:27 - 02:32
of vocabulary from the standpoint of creating mental imagery, ownership
02:33 - 02:37
pictures that paint the word okay that allows for students
02:37 - 02:41
to take some ownership over the understanding and create their
02:42 - 02:42
own meanings.
02:42 - 02:44
Remember, are rigorous and engaging definition.
02:45 - 02:49
We're looking for students to internalize meaning and vocabulary content.
02:49 - 02:51
Vocabulary is a huge part of that.
02:51 - 02:56
We're looking for them to collaborate Teoh, create their own
02:56 - 02:59
personal process and then finally apply it while the entry
02:59 - 03:03
section is really that meaning, making section where we are
03:03 - 03:06
connecting with them on a human level, where providing some
03:06 - 03:10
motivation that maybe they lack towards your content, We're allowing
03:10 - 03:13
them to understand that were in it with them and
03:13 - 03:16
believe in them and that we have designed the materials
03:17 - 03:20
for them to, ah, give them the best chance they
03:20 - 03:23
have at accessing the content from there.
03:24 - 03:26
We're going again, get into the multiple entry point ideas,
03:27 - 03:30
Um, and all of these things as your product today
03:31 - 03:33
on in the next few days, as you as you
03:33 - 03:35
wish. And as you get it done, you will link
03:36 - 03:37
into mosaic instructional planning.
03:38 - 03:42
Um, and hopefully you put a solid description in the
03:42 - 03:46
tab. But then, including their A resource link in either
03:46 - 03:49
the resource tab or right in, let's say, the entry
03:50 - 03:52
tab, um, or the ways you know, other ways that
03:52 - 03:55
you're gonna get started, the vocabulary section and so on.
03:56 - 03:58
All right, um, then the strategies that we're going to
03:58 - 04:02
use obviously the focus strategy for our blended learning is
04:03 - 04:07
Prezi the idea of using Prezi video, which you are
04:07 - 04:09
already getting to experience right now.
04:10 - 04:11
This is my statement of instructional purpose.
04:12 - 04:14
This is my telling you how great you are and
04:14 - 04:16
how I believe in you.
04:16 - 04:18
And this is going to be such a a new
04:18 - 04:22
impactful moment in your career as you guys are really
04:22 - 04:26
embarking out on this journey, Um, and how this video
04:27 - 04:29
even can be used to kind of manipulate either full
04:30 - 04:34
screen. It gives you this this split screen option or
04:34 - 04:36
the just me option, right?
04:36 - 04:37
The end of the piece where I'm looking in the
04:37 - 04:40
camera and I'm talking directly to a student.
04:40 - 04:43
All right, so we're gonna be using Prezi video for
04:43 - 04:47
that. Um, and also only back that up, we're gonna
04:47 - 04:51
be using president designs to create our frayer models.
04:52 - 04:56
And we're gonna be using president presentations to create the
04:56 - 04:57
multiple entry point experiences.
04:59 - 05:03
If this were in person learning, Okay, what would it
05:03 - 05:06
be happening is you would be greeting students at the
05:06 - 05:10
door. They would be walking into a fully formed board
05:11 - 05:14
configuration where they might use an agenda or a notebook
05:14 - 05:17
on an ongoing basis to show some organizational skills and
05:17 - 05:19
build those organizational skills.
05:20 - 05:22
They might have to write that agenda down that engender
05:23 - 05:26
might include the overarching critical content questions for the day,
05:27 - 05:31
maybe the agenda, literal agenda time, the things you're gonna
05:32 - 05:36
do, possibly there groups or the criteria for success the
05:36 - 05:37
way that they're going to show their success.
05:38 - 05:41
Um, then also you would be they would be having
05:41 - 05:45
to move on to some sort of lesson starter to
05:46 - 05:47
get them into the content conversation.
05:48 - 05:50
Um, and again, we use the M E P entry
05:51 - 05:54
points or lesson starters on, and they would have that
05:54 - 05:58
going on while you were doing some other business of
05:58 - 05:59
the class.
05:59 - 06:04
That experience in an online environment can be replicated, and
06:04 - 06:05
that's what we're gonna be doing today.
06:06 - 06:08
So buckle up, hanging there.
06:08 - 06:09
You've already seen the first part.
06:10 - 06:12
Um, that's not a hard piece.
06:12 - 06:15
I'm going to now kind of dovetail into a video
06:16 - 06:18
that's gonna take you through the set up in the
06:18 - 06:22
creation of a Prezi video for your statement of purpose,
06:23 - 06:24
and we'll take it from there
