  1. Oh, hi.
  2. My name is Lizzie, and I did it on neglect
  3. and mild treatment.
  4. Um, um, given infants given threats of infant, um, but
  5. neglect, neglect and maltreatment.
  6. Um, usually, these Children have no emotional or physical support
  7. at all.
  8. They are abused and ignored.
  9. Um, sometimes just left alone for hours.
  10. And infants and Children.
  11. Um, they just cry and cry and cry.
  12. You know, one takes care of them.
  13. Um, they often have long term mental health problems if
  14. it's not ever taken care off.
  15. Unfortunately, I feel like a lot of people's aren't taking
  16. care of a lot of parents.
  17. Just leave it up on the rug because they don't
  18. wanna have that truth out there or even have it.
  19. Don't want to believe it.
  20. Um, on then, a lot of your Children have problems
  21. either connecting with others or they also just overshare like
  22. when they're at school.
  23. They, like, just are so affectionate to other people.
  24. Um, who is at risk?
  25. Infants are arrest, along with Children of all ages, from
  26. neglect and maltreatment.
  27. Um, at all Children are especially Children that can't take
  28. care of themselves.
  29. Yet, Um, even teenagers are they cannot be getting that
  30. emotional or physical support from their parents, which could be
  31. a really big problem for them in the future.
  32. Um, there are three million cases off child abuse and
  33. neglect. 5.5 million Children are reported each year.
  34. So out of 5.5 million Children that are reported for
  35. a child, our child neglect or abuse three million cases
  36. of them, they're only make three million cases.
  37. So all of those other Children are not.
  38. And this makes a good point with the coronavirus going
  39. on when they shut down the school.
  40. Ah, lot of the Children's Onley mean toe access or,
  41. um, resource is, um, nutrition is their schooling.
  42. And, um, I know that some schools did like the
  43. like. They dropped off lunches or whatever, and that's awesome.
  44. But also, they aren't getting the emotional and physical support
  45. that they could get from teachers or friends that they
  46. could get from school, which might cause bigger problems, bigger
  47. health problems than we think it could.
  48. Um, prevention.
  49. Okay, okay.
  50. Communication. If you think that your child is abused or
  51. being abused by someone, communication, if you will just have
  52. an open role of communication with your child anyways.
  53. And if you are involved with your lives like very,
  54. very, very involved, always watching you can kind of see,
  55. like, even changes are the way that they're with act
  56. towards certain people.
  57. Um, like grand parents, or even like a baby sitter
  58. or dad, like, really anyone?
  59. Um, also, I feel like it could be prevented if
  60. we had better things for parents.
  61. Ah, lot of them are stressed.
  62. A lot of them can't cope with their Children.
  63. They don't know how to cope with their stress, so
  64. they take it out on their Children.
  65. Um, that's not fair.
  66. And Children.
  67. So I think that if we had away free therapy
  68. for, um people so they can learn how toe deal
  69. with their stress and their anger.
  70. So they're not projecting it onto their Children.
  71. Um, they don't know how to cope with their emotions
  72. that are bad without so they put it on their
  73. kids. And that's not teaching their kids either how to
  74. cope. So you're just repeating the cycle, repeating the cycle,
  75. and especially if you're doing that to your Children and
  76. no one's picking up on it.
  77. Those Children are probably going to have years and years
  78. and years of untreated mental health problems if it ever,
  79. ever, ever gets treated.
  80. Um, yeah, not with all of them.
  81. Um, treatment.
  82. I think therapy is very, very, very, very, very useful.
  83. Um, I think that all teenagers should go to therapy.
  84. Um, there's a lot going on in the world.
  85. The world is a messed up place.
  86. I think that everyone could benefit for it, but I
  87. think that kids could thio.
  88. So I think that if you think your child is
  89. being abused that you should call your pediatrician right away.
  90. You should get him in there.
  91. They can check him out in.
  92. Your pediatrician could make the best course of treatment for
  93. him. Like, Oh, I think you should go to therapy
  94. or him or her.
  95. I think you should go to therapy.
  96. I think you know what I mean.
  97. Like, there's lots of different treatment, but the doctor will
  98. be able to tell you which one's best.
  99. I personally like therapy, but even just having communication with
  100. your Children can help them open up in hell.
  101. Um, it actually said that you are the best.
  102. The best healing for your child.
  103. So, like if someone else's of using them, you, the
  104. parents are the best comfort for them to help them
  105. heal. I thought that was really cool, and it sucks.
  106. It mean we sad because it sucks that a lot
  107. of Children don't have that at home.
  108. If they're being abused from their parents, they should be
  109. there safe place in that unfortunate, um, outcomes.
  110. Many Children who have been neglected and maltreated suffer from,
  111. um, mental and physical pain abusers, denied Children and tools
  112. that they need to cope with Stress also denies them
  113. the tools to be successful and strong.
  114. Like I said before, Um, if we don't, if the
  115. parents don't know how to cope and they're just projecting
  116. it, then the Children are probably going to pick up
  117. on that and keep doing the same thing.
  118. Um, Children will have lack of self worth for years
  119. and years and years if they don't get that attention
  120. and the just the stuff that Children need and everyday
  121. life to grow and be happy and locked.
  122. Um, if it's not, they could turn the drug and
  123. alcohol. They could be become suicidal and depressed.
  124. Um I'm sorry.
  125. Keep starting.
  126. I'm nervous about, um Uh huh, Yeah, so it just
  127. it just if it's untreated, a lot of other things
  128. could happen.
  129. And mhm and society's awareness.
  130. So ah, lot of people know about the documentary of
  131. group Gabriel Hernandez.
  132. Um, the amount of abuse and neglect he suffered and
  133. no one, no one helped.
  134. And it was just That is a good way, I
  135. think, to get society's awareness.
  136. I think it was raised a lot of awareness for
  137. it. Also, like social media broadcasting, there's a lot like
  138. podcast now, Podcast podcast are a great thing.
  139. I like to listen to podcast in the car.
  140. They could make that, um, just like a lot of
  141. things like that.
  142. A lot of people use social media nowadays.
  143. It's always out there, Um, especially kids.
  144. You know, um, that's a great, great way.
  145. Um, one of the things I felt was the most
  146. interesting and everybody on Capitol letters right here.
  147. Is that the close of the child's relationship that the
  148. abuser, the more damage that it causes?
  149. I think that really stood out for me because that
  150. is so sad that, like someone that you rely on
  151. and care for Does this thio and hurt you and
  152. traumatize you?
  153. Um, prevention and treatment.
  154. Personally, I think that prevention and treatment can change a
  155. lot. Um, I think that there is a stigma on
  156. therapy. I think that people think that if you go
  157. to therapy that, like, something's wrong with you, like you're
  158. crazy and that's not sometimes you just need to go
  159. and talk about your feelings and let things out.
  160. I think that it's a great way Thio help you
  161. grow mentally and physically.
  162. Um, especially because from a lot of abusers, you are
  163. not going thio get, um, a Sorry.
  164. So you need Thio go to therapy and he'll and
  165. as soon as the Yes, A lot of people don't
  166. want to take their Children to go get help because
  167. they don't want to face the truth that someone could
  168. be abusing their child or that, you know, And obviously,
  169. if the parent is abusing their child, they're not gonna
  170. go take him to go get help.
  171. Um, and if they don't have any family members, that's
  172. a problem.
  173. Um, so I just think that everyone should be on
  174. their towels.
  175. Obviously, you know, like school teachers, like school teachers.
  176. They should be able to tell like this.
  177. Kids, like not getting enough like he's look so skinny.
  178. Um, and I think that everyone is responsible for looking
  179. out for these kids, and I Lastly, I just want
  180. to share some changes that you could tell if the
  181. child might be being might be getting abused.
  182. So these are like signs and symptoms.
  183. Um, feel fearful behaviors.
  184. Like if they have nightmares, um, abdomen, abdominal pain, if
  185. they're bedwetting.
  186. Or like, a lot of kids, like they're like, Oh,
  187. my stomach hurts And it's actually really anxiety.
  188. So I thought that it was interesting and they just
  189. don't know like him.
  190. They don't really know what anxiety is.
  191. They don't know the butterflies like, Oh, my stomach hurts.
  192. Um, headaches and tummy aches.
  193. Um, abnormal fears, school failures, extreme aggression.
  194. Desperately, desperately affectionate school.
  195. Um um, physical signs.
  196. You know, any bruises and a broken bones failure to
  197. gain weight.
  198. Um, general painter bleeding like in young young young Children.
  199. I know that's more like sex sexual abuse, but, you
  200. know, still think it's important to look out for those
  201. signs, especially if you are like a caretaker of these
  202. Children because you might be the only one outside of
  203. their parents to see them like a baby sitter or
  204. ah, friend.
  205. Um, yeah, And then lastly, um, I got all of
  206. my citation off of this all of my work.
  207. All of this information that I put on here off
  208. of this healthy Children's Dot or ge, Um, I had
  209. such great information on it, and I did look at
  210. a couple other ones and plenty other information.
  211. Just, like, look and see if, like, they all had
  212. the same information, like, sort of.
  213. And it did.
  214. But everything I used in this presentation was on, um,
  215. that's website.
  216. Um, yeah.
