00:01 - 00:03
My name is Natalie Rush, and I am a recent
00:03 - 00:05
graduate of you Test it University up here in Logan,
00:05 - 00:08
Utah. I received a degree in English with a minor
00:08 - 00:11
in teaching, and it's through the secondary education program.
00:12 - 00:16
So I'm qualified to teach Great six through 12 in
00:16 - 00:16
the state of Utah.
00:17 - 00:20
And I also do have an active Utah teaching license
00:21 - 00:24
that I did receive just a little bit about me.
00:25 - 00:26
I am a mother of three kids.
00:27 - 00:28
My oldest is Sarah.
00:28 - 00:31
She is in seventh grade, currently my middle son.
00:32 - 00:36
He is in third grade currently, and then my youngest,
00:36 - 00:38
Rachel. She's a kindergartner, and they're all in the Chinese
00:39 - 00:43
dual language program at their school here in Cash Valley.
00:44 - 00:47
And I also have the most adorable dog ever.
00:47 - 00:48
Her name is Milly.
00:48 - 00:49
I received her as a Christmas gift.
00:50 - 00:53
She's super hyper like all abs and keeps me on
00:53 - 00:55
my toes and love her to bits just like I
00:55 - 00:55
love my kids.
00:58 - 01:02
The reason why I'm choosing Utah Virtual Academy is the
01:02 - 01:02
first a student choice.
01:04 - 01:07
Students I noticed when I went through your website have
01:07 - 01:10
the ability to choose four different classes, and I believe
01:10 - 01:12
that if you give a student a choice in their
01:12 - 01:15
education, they're going to choose something that interests them and
01:15 - 01:17
they become more invested in their education on.
01:18 - 01:18
I think that's really important.
01:19 - 01:21
The second is the value of a safe learning environment.
01:22 - 01:26
Some students aren't able to excel in a public setting.
01:27 - 01:29
There's a lot of students who feel safer at home.
01:30 - 01:32
There's some students who have medical needs and need to
01:32 - 01:35
be a home, and they all deserve a quality education.
01:36 - 01:38
And they deserve to be in a place where they
01:38 - 01:39
feel safe and comfortable learning.
01:43 - 01:45
Why I think I am the best candidate for the
01:45 - 01:49
position. The first is is I have been on the
01:49 - 01:50
receiving end.
01:51 - 01:53
Most of my classes that I have taken through Utah
01:53 - 01:56
State University have been broadcast or blended broadcast.
01:57 - 01:59
I know what works and I know what doesn't work.
02:00 - 02:03
The second is its technology base, Lanie and I think
02:03 - 02:03
that's really neat.
02:04 - 02:07
Technology is the future, and students, if they go on
02:07 - 02:10
to college, are going to need to have those skills
02:11 - 02:12
with technology to be successful.
02:14 - 02:17
The third is I have industry and career experience.
02:17 - 02:18
Outside of education.
02:20 - 02:22
I worked at Dai Fuku America, which is a manufacturing
02:22 - 02:25
company. And then I went on and worked in finance
02:26 - 02:30
at Wells Fargo Advisors, and after several years of a
02:30 - 02:32
break in my education, I decided to return and become
02:33 - 02:33
an English teacher.
02:34 - 02:37
The reason being is English is so important to have
02:37 - 02:41
a successful career, whether you decide to go on to
02:41 - 02:44
college or whether you decided to go on into a
02:44 - 02:44
professional career.
02:45 - 02:48
Either way, you need to have those English skills to
02:48 - 02:48
be successful.
02:50 - 02:53
And I was a technical editor at Dai Fuku America
02:54 - 02:56
for a little bit when the recession hit.
02:56 - 02:59
I actually ended up picking up the load of the
02:59 - 03:03
technical editors because I had the ability to edit documents
03:04 - 03:05
and also document design.
03:06 - 03:08
That's kind of where they placed me amongst other drops.
03:09 - 03:11
When I worked at Wells Fargo, they did have a
03:11 - 03:14
lot of forms that they used, but I had to
03:14 - 03:17
do a lot of client correspondents and because of my
03:17 - 03:22
ability in English, I was able to effectively create documents
03:22 - 03:25
that are back office, was able to approve and support
03:25 - 03:28
to send out to clients, and I think it's important
03:28 - 03:30
that students realize that what they learn in the classroom
03:31 - 03:34
correlates to the road world outside of academia.
03:36 - 03:38
So that's the reason why I believe that I am
03:38 - 03:39
the best candidate for this position.
03:40 - 03:43
I have experience being the student.
03:44 - 03:48
I have experience in the real world, and technology is
03:48 - 03:48
the future.
03:49 - 03:50
I hope to hear back from you soon.
