00:02 - 00:03
Hi. My name is Jennifer Ebeling.
00:04 - 00:05
I currently live in Iowa.
00:06 - 00:10
I am working as an assistant director of nursing at
00:10 - 00:13
a long term care skilled facility in Omaha, Nebraska.
00:15 - 00:19
Um, I chose to go into nursing because I just
00:19 - 00:22
love caring for people on making a difference in their
00:22 - 00:26
lives. Um, no matter how big or small, even just
00:26 - 00:28
given him a smile on the face for the day,
00:30 - 00:32
it makes it worth it cause it makes their day.
00:33 - 00:37
Ah. I also originally got into nursing because of my
00:37 - 00:37
step Mom.
00:38 - 00:39
She really encouraged me to get into healthcare.
00:40 - 00:43
Um, my parents secretly wished I would go work at
00:43 - 00:46
a hospital somewhere, but I fell in love with long
00:46 - 00:48
term care, geriatric population.
00:49 - 00:51
So I have decided to stick with long term care.
00:51 - 00:56
So far, um, I've worked as, ah thing in a,
00:56 - 00:58
um, Florida Or is he an IT manager?
00:59 - 01:03
I've also done, um, MDs and submitted assessments for payment.
01:05 - 01:07
And then a few months ago, I chose that I
01:07 - 01:10
wanted to take more of a leadership role, and that's
01:10 - 01:13
why I chose to take this assistant director of nursing
01:13 - 01:18
spot, Um, when I graduate from United States University.
01:19 - 01:20
I do want to be a director of nursing at
01:21 - 01:22
a skill facility somewhere.
01:23 - 01:27
Um, I love to help my staff grow and learn
01:27 - 01:32
and, um, you know, develop good habits and good ways
01:32 - 01:35
of thinking outside of the box so that we can
01:36 - 01:40
make the residents care very optimal, Um, and then also,
01:41 - 01:42
just make them feel at home.
01:42 - 01:45
I know there's always a lot of stigma in the
01:45 - 01:48
news about nursing homes, and, ah, some of the scary
01:48 - 01:51
stories we all here, so anything I can do to
01:52 - 01:55
help alleviate that is definitely a big goal of mine.
01:55 - 02:01
Um, so, yeah, I am looking forward to learning more
02:02 - 02:06
about how, um, different policies and procedures to help improve
02:07 - 02:10
quality. Um, and, of course, me, energy and some systems
02:11 - 02:12
and everything like that.
02:12 - 02:16
I'm pretty familiar with some of it, but, um, I'd
02:17 - 02:19
like to bring more ideas to my facility to help
02:19 - 02:20
us as well.
02:20 - 02:24
So looking forward to meeting everybody and working with you.
