00:01 - 00:03
Okay, So I'm gonna be talking about our Renaissance project
00:04 - 00:08
and just how we got there and all the steps
00:08 - 00:10
that we had to go through, what our project idea
00:11 - 00:12
was gonna be, how we were going to carry it
00:12 - 00:16
out and just the struggles and highs with during our
00:16 - 00:20
project. So first we have are beginning ideas that we
00:21 - 00:24
were going to dio but things that we thought about
00:24 - 00:28
doing and they really just didn't pan out we're into
00:28 - 00:32
fake ax going know that did not work face paint
00:32 - 00:33
was just gonna cause way too many problems.
00:34 - 00:37
Comedy shows was pretty high on the list, but, like
00:38 - 00:43
just the amount of the time, we kind of started
00:43 - 00:45
late because we had so many setbacks with ideas.
00:47 - 00:50
Um, we really wanted to do get your fortune told.
00:50 - 00:51
And we did a lot of research on that one
00:52 - 00:54
and really, like, wanted to do that.
00:55 - 00:56
We practised.
00:57 - 01:00
And by the time we like, we're able to present
01:01 - 01:02
and present our ideas.
01:02 - 01:04
Someone else had already had that idea and we didn't
01:05 - 01:07
wanna have to groups obviously doing the same thing.
01:08 - 01:09
So we had to move on with other ideas.
01:10 - 01:13
There's a lot of other ideas on there, but yeah,
01:13 - 01:16
And after beginning ideas, we had just the trial and
01:16 - 01:21
error process of trying all these ideas and like realizing
01:21 - 01:22
that they're not gonna work.
01:23 - 01:26
And so we presented our ideas to the teacher and
01:27 - 01:31
we got class opinions, and we did research and try
01:31 - 01:31
different ways of presenting.
01:32 - 01:35
But none of them really were working out, and it
01:35 - 01:37
just was a big struggle, and we wasted a lot
01:37 - 01:41
of time in the beginning, but we came to the
01:41 - 01:45
realization that already a where they were not gonna work
01:46 - 01:49
and we needed Teoh come up with something that was
01:49 - 01:52
going to keep the kids interested and be fun and
01:52 - 01:57
educational and just really get our point across and just
01:58 - 02:00
really, like, come up with a good idea.
02:00 - 02:03
And so we got help from the teacher and we
02:03 - 02:05
researched more about the Renaissance and try to find things
02:06 - 02:07
that we thought these kids would want to learn.
02:08 - 02:10
And finally we came up with our big idea, which
02:10 - 02:11
was the printing press.
02:12 - 02:14
Um, and we had to work on carrying out the
02:14 - 02:16
big idea, like figure out what we were gonna dio.
02:17 - 02:19
And so we picked our main concept, which was the
02:19 - 02:21
printing press, and we were just gonna talk about, like
02:21 - 02:24
how the printing press worked and who created it.
02:25 - 02:27
We were going to have these phone meat trays that
02:29 - 02:29
we carved there.
02:30 - 02:34
Well, they used popsicle sticks to carve their name or,
02:34 - 02:37
like a letter or whatever they wanted any role in
02:37 - 02:40
Khan. And it was gonna be like a makeshift printing
02:40 - 02:40
press print.
02:41 - 02:45
Impressed. But we had come up with our plan and
02:45 - 02:49
there was gonna be a quick segment video, um, about
02:50 - 02:53
the printing press and explaining it better in depth, and
02:53 - 02:56
we could of and just really a lot of fun.
02:56 - 02:57
There was gonna be stamps.
02:57 - 02:59
So there were the kids were to switch groups.
02:59 - 03:01
So we really We had planned this one out and
03:01 - 03:03
really thought it was gonna go somewhere.
03:04 - 03:06
Obviously, we were a little behind on the planning portion
03:07 - 03:09
of it because we had so many trial and error
03:09 - 03:12
with the idea concept, like trying to come up with
03:12 - 03:12
a good idea.
03:13 - 03:16
And so we decided where are idea was gonna take
03:16 - 03:17
place in the school.
03:18 - 03:20
We picked out our supplies with Miss Kitten.
03:21 - 03:23
The art teacher and we went to other teachers that
03:24 - 03:25
I always see you to see if they had stamps.
03:26 - 03:28
And that was a little bit of a let down
03:28 - 03:31
because they didn't have Sam's everyone's kind of using stickers
03:32 - 03:35
now. So we were gonna have to order stance and
03:35 - 03:38
a like ink pad thing online, which was actually, the
03:38 - 03:41
impact was kind of cheap, but the stamps were other
03:41 - 03:43
story, so we were softening to figure that part out.
03:44 - 03:47
But we were gonna have, um, old styled paper, which
03:48 - 03:51
was just t dipped paper that was gonna make it
03:51 - 03:54
look like, really vantage and just really sell it basically.
03:56 - 03:58
And we just We started writing our script about what
03:58 - 04:00
we were going to say and how we were gonna
04:00 - 04:05
carry out the presentation, the performance, and it was a
04:05 - 04:09
lot more difficult than we thought it was gonna be
04:10 - 04:14
like trying to keep the kids occupied without, like, sounding
04:14 - 04:14
like robots.
04:15 - 04:16
We didn't want to keep talking and keep talking.
04:17 - 04:20
And so practicing the presentation was a really big part
04:21 - 04:21
of it.
04:21 - 04:24
And we did a lot of group work because we
04:24 - 04:27
have three people in our group, so we spread it
04:27 - 04:30
out evenly, and we really had to work on doing
04:30 - 04:34
that. But I think that it would have been a
04:34 - 04:37
good idea if we could have carried it out.
04:37 - 04:39
And we're all pretty sad that we were able to
04:39 - 04:42
carry it out because I know that my cousins that
04:43 - 04:44
were always see had been hearing about it.
04:45 - 04:48
And they were They were really excited for, um, the
04:48 - 04:49
Renaissance thing.
04:49 - 04:52
And so I was pretty sad that they didn't get
04:52 - 04:53
to see it.
04:53 - 04:55
And like after all the work that we put into
04:55 - 04:57
it and all the other students put into it, it
04:57 - 04:58
was definitely kind of a letdown.
04:58 - 05:03
But hopefully we get another opportunity to do something like
05:03 - 05:08
this, and yeah, and obviously I didn't feel the time
05:09 - 05:14
very well because we didn't ah, really carry out enough
05:15 - 05:18
to, like, show examples of what we're gonna dio.
05:19 - 05:22
Um, but you said that we could talk about, like,
05:23 - 05:24
the Corona virus and things.
05:24 - 05:27
So I'm just going, like, kind of take the time
05:28 - 05:31
to explain, like how the Corona viruses kind of affecting
05:32 - 05:35
teenagers like you hear it, um, other people's stories and
05:36 - 05:40
everything, but like, I feel like it's affecting people emotionally
05:41 - 05:44
more than its If, like obviously, it's a sickness and
05:45 - 05:46
like deadly.
05:47 - 05:52
But there are so many repercussions, and it's having on,
05:53 - 05:56
like, the nervous system and just people's emotions, especially teenagers
05:57 - 06:00
like it, honestly, kind of feels like we're grounded, which
06:01 - 06:03
we're not gonna take it for granted because, like, obviously
06:04 - 06:05
it's it's for the better.
06:05 - 06:09
But, um, a lot of teenagers and a lot of
06:09 - 06:13
just students in general like really depend on the social
06:14 - 06:15
interaction and they get at school.
06:15 - 06:19
Maybe they don't exactly like school, but like I don't
06:19 - 06:19
dislike school.
06:20 - 06:23
But I really don't have a lot of friends like
06:23 - 06:24
close friends.
06:24 - 06:28
I do but see going for so long without seeing
06:28 - 06:29
a lot of the people that I care about and
06:30 - 06:33
that I talked Thio going through life struggles and not
06:33 - 06:35
being able to have those people like right there with
06:36 - 06:39
me. That is probably probably the biggest struggle I've had
06:39 - 06:43
with it because I really do depend on the social
06:43 - 06:46
interaction and so being stuck in the house with the
06:47 - 06:51
same people over and over again is definitely struggle.
06:52 - 06:53
But I really do.
06:55 - 06:58
I think that it's kind of bettered us because like
07:00 - 07:02
I don't know how to explain it.
07:02 - 07:04
But it was kind of like everything was getting kind
07:04 - 07:07
of overwhelming with end of school kind of coming near
07:07 - 07:09
like we weren't quite there.
07:09 - 07:12
But you knew it was kind of looming and just
07:12 - 07:14
having all this work that we needed to get turned
07:14 - 07:16
in. And I was going through a lot of personal,
07:17 - 07:20
like home struggles and friendship struggles.
07:21 - 07:24
So, like I was just getting really overwhelmed and it
07:24 - 07:27
honestly, like taking this break.
07:27 - 07:29
It was like, really refreshing.
07:30 - 07:33
And I'm still bored, like 90% of the time.
07:33 - 07:37
But I really do like I feel like we've all
07:37 - 07:42
kind of benefitted from the state Home order.
07:43 - 07:48
And I really think that the teachers are doing a
07:48 - 07:51
really great job of trying to keep the social interaction.
07:51 - 07:54
There was new meetings and not necessarily just a score,
07:55 - 07:57
but like emailing us to keep us on track and
07:57 - 08:00
like emailing us just asking about our day, it really
08:00 - 08:00
does help.
08:01 - 08:03
And whether the students say that or not, they really
08:03 - 08:07
do. We really do depend on being able to talk
08:07 - 08:12
to people because, like early shy Dio and I think
08:12 - 08:14
that it's been a struggle?
08:15 - 08:19
Definitely. But it really has benefitted.
08:20 - 08:22
We have benefited from it.
08:23 - 08:27
So, yeah, I'm not gonna keep droning on because I
08:27 - 08:28
can't really figure out what I'm gonna say.
08:28 - 08:30
And I stumble over words when I can't.
08:31 - 08:32
So I'm just gonna end it here.
08:33 - 08:35
And, um, thank you for listening.
