00:01 - 00:02
Hello everyone.
00:02 - 00:05
I am martin Sandoval and today I'll be talking about
00:05 - 00:06
my research.
00:07 - 00:10
It is about how peer pressure can affect college students.
00:15 - 00:17
In my research study, I made a google survey and
00:17 - 00:21
that's the list of questions to college students, preferably students
00:21 - 00:25
at texas state about their experience with period pressure and
00:25 - 00:28
the factors that could possibly affect the way they respond
00:28 - 00:28
to it.
00:31 - 00:34
Many of us understand what peer pressure is but do
00:34 - 00:36
not understand how big of a problem it can be.
00:37 - 00:40
A lot of students fall under pressure for the main
00:40 - 00:42
fact that they feel like they can trust the friend
00:43 - 00:47
pressuring them, but they do not know or see how
00:47 - 00:50
that one decision continue their lives all the way around.
00:53 - 00:56
The reason I chose this topic was to let future
00:56 - 00:59
students know that it is okay to signal to their
00:59 - 01:03
friends when they feel uncomfortable with doing something, even if
01:03 - 01:06
that means that they will lose a friend because a
01:06 - 01:08
real friend would never force you to do something that
01:09 - 01:09
you do not want to do.
01:12 - 01:17
Here are my methods In my research, I first created
01:17 - 01:17
a hypothesis.
01:19 - 01:20
I posted the survey on social media.
01:21 - 01:23
I waited 24 hours to collect information.
01:25 - 01:29
I then collected and looked at the data and then
01:29 - 01:31
I finally finished my hypothesis.
01:34 - 01:37
Here are a few examples of questions I had in
01:37 - 01:37
my survey.
01:38 - 01:40
Have you ever been pure pressured while in college?
01:41 - 01:43
Are you currently a texas state student?
01:43 - 01:46
Have you ever experienced pressure at a college party?
01:47 - 01:50
Have those decisions affected your schooling in any way?
01:50 - 01:53
And do you attend school online or in prison?
01:57 - 01:59
Out of the 15 students that did participate in my
01:59 - 02:02
research, 13 of them have fallen under pressure.
02:03 - 02:06
The 13 students also had issues with their grades, were
02:07 - 02:10
falling behind their assignments in class and lived on campus.
02:11 - 02:14
The two students that did not fall under pressure, both
02:14 - 02:16
put that they did not have issues with school and
02:16 - 02:17
lived at home.
02:21 - 02:23
In conclusion, this proves my hypothesis right.
02:24 - 02:27
My survey results show that the students I lived on
02:27 - 02:30
campus seemed more likely to fall under peer pressure than
02:30 - 02:31
the students that lived at home.
02:32 - 02:35
The students living at home know that they have someone
02:35 - 02:38
watching over them, so they are constantly being reminded of
02:38 - 02:39
what they should not do.
02:40 - 02:43
On the other hand, students that live on campus full
02:43 - 02:46
of a sense of freedom and make decisions sometimes without
02:46 - 02:49
thinking because they do not have to worry about anyone
02:50 - 02:50
looking over them.
02:55 - 02:56
And that is my research.
02:57 - 02:57
Thank you for listening.
