00:00 - 00:03
Hello and welcome to my presentations about adolescents in the
00:04 - 00:04
physical changes.
00:05 - 00:08
We're gonna be talking about a little bit about puberty,
00:09 - 00:11
the brain and sexuality.
00:13 - 00:14
So and we'll talk a little bit about my resource
00:15 - 00:19
is and my interview with the my psychologist, Dr Stephanie
00:19 - 00:22
Wong, who I presented this to find out if I
00:22 - 00:26
could get any other good resource is on information that
00:26 - 00:28
I'm going to be riding you guys with today.
00:29 - 00:32
So first, let's find out what exactly everything means.
00:33 - 00:36
So this first go to puberty.
00:36 - 00:37
Okay, what is puberty?
00:38 - 00:39
Puberty is that different, period.
00:40 - 00:43
Which adolescents reach sexual maturity and become capable of reproduction?
00:45 - 00:45
That is, that is puberty.
00:46 - 00:52
Now let's go on to the brain, the brain and
00:52 - 00:54
organ of a soft, nervous tissue containing the school of
00:55 - 00:58
vertebrates functioning as the coordinating center of sensation in the
00:58 - 01:00
intellectual and nervous system.
01:00 - 01:01
Now the brain in its aspect.
01:02 - 01:06
It's very powerful, very powerful thing, and I feel that
01:07 - 01:09
really it's very important to know a lot about the
01:09 - 01:12
brain. So let's talk about sexuality.
01:12 - 01:15
Sexuality is a person's orientation or preference.
01:16 - 01:19
I'd like to add in there also sexual maturity or
01:20 - 01:21
sexually mature e ation.
01:22 - 01:25
That's really important to know as we go along in
01:25 - 01:26
my presentation.
01:27 - 01:28
Okay, Next.
01:29 - 01:30
Just talk about puberty a little bit.
01:32 - 01:35
First of all, early puberty has really been happening a
01:36 - 01:37
lot in today's world.
01:37 - 01:40
A lot of the reasons for being is it's synthetic
01:41 - 01:46
chemicals that are actually could be contributing to early puberty.
01:47 - 01:52
Um, the rates have went up tremendously since ah, two
01:52 - 01:55
years ago, and there could be many things that are
01:55 - 01:59
causing puberty, um, early puberty, like synthetic chemicals.
02:00 - 02:02
And that's basically what I mean when I say synthetic
02:02 - 02:09
chemicals, it's basically, um, certain plastics have, ah, minute kind
02:09 - 02:13
of some estrogen on down At that point, uh, you
02:13 - 02:17
can also create what they call BP a biz personal
02:18 - 02:20
A which is actually detrimental.
02:21 - 02:24
What it does is add weight to you faster and
02:24 - 02:25
faster, more mature ation.
02:26 - 02:31
Now, girls put the high levels of hormones Also canned
02:33 - 02:36
mature a lot quicker than men also lower inside.
02:37 - 02:41
Just in case you didn't know, Um, there's ah chemical
02:41 - 02:46
out there that's made in mothballs or air deodorizers that
02:46 - 02:51
prenatal exposure to can also cause low weight and boys.
02:52 - 02:53
So just go inside if you need to know that
02:55 - 02:58
also, breast growth and females happens in puberty.
02:59 - 03:01
We talked about marked weight and height gains.
03:02 - 03:08
Girls First Administration, which is, uh, um, having their period.
03:09 - 03:09
In a sense.
03:10 - 03:12
Um, so those are a couple things about puberty.
03:12 - 03:16
I think it's very important to know, um, as an
03:16 - 03:18
adolescence. All right, let's go.
03:18 - 03:19
Move on.
03:19 - 03:21
Now, let's go to, um, the brain.
03:22 - 03:23
The brain is very important.
03:24 - 03:26
And I really would like to focus a little bit
03:26 - 03:29
on the brain here for a second, Um, the prefrontal
03:30 - 03:33
cortex number that zoom in for a minute.
03:33 - 03:35
And then I zoom back out for you.
03:35 - 03:39
But the pre frontal cortex, the region of the rains,
03:40 - 03:44
intense emotions, but don't finish developing until at least emerging
03:45 - 03:49
adulthood. Now, that could be, um, 17 18 years old.
03:50 - 03:51
Let's go over to the other part of the brain,
03:52 - 03:53
which is the corporate school.
03:53 - 03:53
Oh, close.
03:54 - 03:56
Um, sorry if my presentation is my spelling is not
03:57 - 03:57
correct or pronunciation.
03:59 - 04:01
Um, but most important is that we get this right.
04:02 - 04:03
Corpus callosum.
04:03 - 04:06
Um, these nerve fibers connect the brains too.
04:08 - 04:08
Two hemispheres.
04:09 - 04:14
They thicken in adolescents to possess process information more effectively.
04:15 - 04:19
Now, might I tell you that in the brain, A
04:19 - 04:24
lot of kids are, um either kind of black or
04:24 - 04:25
white in adolescence.
04:26 - 04:30
They you know, they don't They look, they consider the
04:30 - 04:33
big picture, but they don't know how to apply it
04:33 - 04:36
at the moment and which could be a little troublesome,
04:36 - 04:38
you know, because kids are still learning, right?
04:39 - 04:41
Um much of this is because the frontal lobes are
04:41 - 04:43
the last areas of the brain to mature.
04:44 - 04:47
Development is not complete until person is well into their
04:47 - 04:48
20 year twenties.
04:49 - 04:53
Um, the frontal lobes also play a big role in
04:53 - 04:57
coordinating complex decision making, impulse control and being able to
04:57 - 04:59
consider multiple options and consequences.
05:00 - 05:00
Um, examples.
05:01 - 05:02
I'm doing well enough in math.
05:04 - 05:06
I really want to see that movie one night of
05:06 - 05:08
skipping. Studying won't matter.
05:08 - 05:09
See, they're not looking at it.
05:09 - 05:11
They look at the big picture, but they're not applying
05:12 - 05:14
it. All right, let's go Toe Diggle.
05:15 - 05:20
My Olympic system, a structure that is involved in emotion,
05:21 - 05:24
which plays a big part, is extremely big when it
05:24 - 05:27
comes to trying to understand the Olympic system.
05:28 - 05:29
What is the Olympic system?
05:30 - 05:33
The vic system is a loyal sub court school system,
05:34 - 05:35
which the brain that is the seat of the motions
05:36 - 05:38
and experience of the rewards.
05:39 - 05:41
This system is almost completely developed in early adolescence.
05:42 - 05:44
Now, when I say talk about early adolescents, don't forget
05:44 - 05:47
that's from the age of probably 12 to 17 on,
05:47 - 05:49
Say, let's move on.
05:49 - 05:52
Let's go to our favor one.
05:53 - 05:59
Sexuality sexuality is really can be confusing at times for
05:59 - 05:59
many reasons.
06:00 - 06:04
Um, people tend to, uh, try to identify their sexuality,
06:05 - 06:09
and one of the things is developing it, learning to
06:09 - 06:12
manage those sexual feelings that we all get the young
06:12 - 06:16
age, you know, Um and actually, to be honest with
06:16 - 06:19
you, Ah, lot of kids these days aren't having as
06:19 - 06:21
much sex and schools they used to.
06:21 - 06:23
That's what I've read and research and all that.
06:24 - 06:29
I find it very interesting that kids have actually went
06:29 - 06:32
down and how much they have sex in high school.
06:33 - 06:36
Now here's another thing, and we'll talk about this just
06:36 - 06:36
a little bit.
06:37 - 06:37
Sexual behaviors.
06:38 - 06:41
How can we performed sexual behaviors?
06:42 - 06:44
Well, that kind of means like sexual relationships, how to
06:45 - 06:46
identify who you should be with her.
06:46 - 06:49
You shouldn't be with, um, it's really important to also,
06:51 - 06:53
um, so let's talk a little bit about adolescence.
06:53 - 06:58
Pregnancy. So we all are very familiar with adolescents pregnancies
06:58 - 06:59
and what it can cause.
07:00 - 07:03
And how could ah develop, um, early in maturity?
07:04 - 07:08
Definitely that, um, And how research has shown that a
07:08 - 07:09
lot of the thing in late out of the lessons,
07:10 - 07:15
um, they tend to, um I think it's okay.
07:18 - 07:22
I, for one, don't really, Um I find it to
07:22 - 07:24
be okay, but that's just my opinion.
07:25 - 07:28
All right, So we've talked a little bit about sexuality
07:29 - 07:33
the brain and Hubert and I've researched a lot of
07:33 - 07:34
stuff on this and looked into it very deeply.
07:35 - 07:39
And I was able to coordinate with my psychologist about
07:39 - 07:41
her input on this, and her input was The biggest
07:42 - 07:43
thing was that I really need to focus on sexual
07:44 - 07:46
maturity ation, which I do believe is very important.
07:47 - 07:51
I do, because during that stage, it really you're trying
07:51 - 07:54
to identify who you are as individual, and that's what
07:54 - 07:55
we all are trying to do in life.
07:55 - 07:58
We're trying to find out who we are as a
07:58 - 07:59
person, and you know what?
08:00 - 08:01
It's it's It's like this, right?
08:02 - 08:03
So I had that screen off for a while.
08:03 - 08:05
So, you know, it's like this right?
08:06 - 08:08
Is you're going through high school.
08:08 - 08:09
You're going through adolescence.
08:11 - 08:15
You want to be able to be able to live
08:15 - 08:17
life the way you want to live it.
08:18 - 08:21
But I really feel the society is really determined how
08:21 - 08:22
we're going to live.
08:22 - 08:22
Did it.
08:23 - 08:25
I know at this point in life, we're going through
08:25 - 08:26
the Corona virus, and that's huge.
08:27 - 08:28
Who'd ever thought right?
08:29 - 08:31
But today we still gonna think about our adolescents.
08:31 - 08:34
And actually, in fact, today, we really need to look
08:34 - 08:38
to the adolescents people to actually follow this direction of
08:38 - 08:41
what the world is asking for because this will obviously
08:41 - 08:46
eliminate the process of spreading this virus around to older
08:47 - 08:49
people, which are having a little bit more problem beating
08:49 - 08:54
it. Um, I really want to say that this has
08:55 - 08:58
been a great opportunity to experience and to go over
08:58 - 09:01
some of the main topics and big talks that I
09:01 - 09:01
felt were important.
09:02 - 09:05
And the reason I say that is because myself I
09:05 - 09:08
didn't go through puberty until late junior high school, so
09:08 - 09:10
that's 16 17 years old.
09:10 - 09:14
And when I was seen everybody actually developed sooner than
09:14 - 09:17
me. I felt like I was out of the out
09:17 - 09:18
of the norm.
09:19 - 09:22
Um, I always seem people shaving and I'm less like
09:22 - 09:24
I wish I could shave, But my time came.
09:24 - 09:28
Believe me, I have double more like 17 18 years
09:28 - 09:30
old. I grow five or six inches and I thought
09:30 - 09:33
was extremely, um, a lot in one time.
09:34 - 09:35
Um Ah.
09:36 - 09:38
And it showed me in life that you know what?
09:39 - 09:39
We're all equal.
09:40 - 09:43
At the end of the day, we're all so I
09:43 - 09:45
would like to thank everybody for my your time.
09:45 - 09:48
I would like to just show you spend real quick.
09:49 - 09:51
Uh, the resource is that I went through was too
09:51 - 09:57
healthy. Children dot war, um, cognitive development, physical and cognitive
09:58 - 10:02
development of the Scientific America and also help in science.
10:03 - 10:06
And in my interview, I want to thank you and
10:06 - 10:06
have a good day.
10:07 - 10:07
But by
