00:00 - 00:02
Mhm. Hey Ron I'm tomorrow.
00:03 - 00:05
And today I will talk about the Two Cranes that
00:05 - 00:08
suggests murmur had used some sort of optical system to
00:09 - 00:09
paint his famous paintings.
00:11 - 00:13
Um Now the first thing we need to know about
00:13 - 00:15
where America is that he is all about mystery.
00:17 - 00:19
For instance, we don't know what he looks like.
00:19 - 00:21
He never painted a portrait of himself and he didn't
00:22 - 00:23
let any other painter to paint him too.
00:24 - 00:29
Another thing was realism was the dominating moment at that
00:29 - 00:35
time. And Farmer had paint extremely realistic paintings and he
00:35 - 00:38
always painted in isolation, which led to other painters of
00:38 - 00:40
his time to think that he had some sort of
00:40 - 00:42
secret method that he wouldn't share with the rest of
00:42 - 00:43
them. Yeah.
00:45 - 00:48
And for this presentation will focus on these two points.
00:48 - 00:51
The first one is examination of players that you're real
00:51 - 00:51
tunnel maps.
00:52 - 00:55
And for the second part we will talk about a
00:55 - 00:59
journalist who uses some sort of system to recreate environment
01:00 - 01:05
painting. Now, as many of you probably know, paintings are
01:06 - 01:06
made up of layers.
01:07 - 01:09
Each layer contributes in a different way.
01:10 - 01:12
We are now interested in the first layer, which usually
01:13 - 01:17
consists of a sketch, an outline here on the left,
01:17 - 01:20
you can see a sketch by Rembrandt, and this is
01:20 - 01:23
more or less what the first layer of any painting
01:23 - 01:24
looks like except for them.
01:25 - 01:30
Memories. First layers usually consists of the whole tunnel map
01:31 - 01:34
of the whole painting, even as if he had painted
01:34 - 01:37
the whole thing all at once and didn't need any
01:37 - 01:40
correction, which is of course not impossible, but very unlikely.
01:41 - 01:44
And this led to people to believe that he had
01:44 - 01:45
used some sort of equipment.
01:47 - 01:51
And over the course of the years, um, art history
01:51 - 01:56
enthusiasts tried to discover these tools by trying out some
01:56 - 01:56
for themselves.
01:58 - 02:02
And here is a prototype of a mirror that is
02:02 - 02:06
used to determine the exact shade of color that you
02:06 - 02:07
would meet for your image.
02:09 - 02:10
But this, of course, doesn't work as well.
02:11 - 02:14
If you're painting something across the room for that case,
02:14 - 02:16
you would need something more advanced.
02:17 - 02:20
Uh specifically, you would need the help.
02:20 - 02:24
Nikolic a thesis, um, which explains in full detail.
02:25 - 02:29
Uh, this system that consists of lenses and mirrors and
02:30 - 02:30
a black room.
02:32 - 02:36
If you want any more information on that one, you
02:36 - 02:37
can find it in my references.
02:39 - 02:43
Now, this brings us to the journalist, Tim johnson, who
02:43 - 02:47
had conducted an experiment and used a system ecosystem of
02:47 - 02:51
lenses and mirrors to recreate this painting called the music
02:51 - 02:52
lesson here on the left.
02:54 - 02:58
What they didn't consider was lenses had caricatures which reflects
02:58 - 02:59
on the image.
03:00 - 03:03
So when Tim's painting came out, it had a huge
03:03 - 03:06
flow. All his lines had a flight capture.
03:07 - 03:10
But he went on with the project anyway and had
03:11 - 03:13
experts examine it compared to the original painting.
03:15 - 03:19
The shocking revelation was, uh, the original music lessons had
03:20 - 03:22
the same exact floor at the same exact places.
03:23 - 03:28
Yeah. Which lead people to think that murmur definitely use
03:29 - 03:29
some sort of optical system.
03:31 - 03:35
Um, and if you want any more information on this,
03:35 - 03:37
you can check out the documentary to environmentally.
03:39 - 03:41
Um, which was very controversial when it first aired.
03:42 - 03:46
Some people considered this to be even cheating and some
03:47 - 03:49
artists thought that it wasn't fair to the other artists
03:50 - 03:51
that didn't use any equipment.
03:53 - 03:57
Uh but of course it is up to you to
03:57 - 04:00
decide whether it's talent or intelligence or both.
04:01 - 04:05
Um, and whether you think it is art or it
04:05 - 04:05
is not.
04:07 - 04:11
As for myself, I think um it is okay to
04:12 - 04:15
use technology for art too, considering how digital artist popular
04:16 - 04:20
nowadays. and here I've added two of my digital artworks.
04:21 - 04:27
And I actually find this combination of intelligence and talent
04:28 - 04:30
to be very inspiring and influential.
04:31 - 04:33
And I hope you find it that way too.
04:34 - 04:35
Thank you for listening to me.
04:36 - 04:39
If you have any questions I'll be inordinate to answer,
04:40 - 04:43
and here's my reference list if any of you are
04:43 - 04:44
interested, mm.
