There was little medical help on the goldfields so the health of the diggers wasn’t very good.

People on the goldfleids mostly walked and the Police had the horses to ride on.They also used steam trains and wheelbarrows to transport gold to other destinations on the goldfields
Soon after gold was first discovered New South
Wales in 1851,the government sent police.
Diggers Nsw and Victora had to pay 30 shillings of a gold licences.
The gold licence was taken out by Aeneas MacDonnell in March 1853.
The men on the gold fields wore loose-fitting, comfortable clothes. They had long trousers held up with a belt and a long shirt.
People became alcoholics very easily and spent a lot of money on rum, bourbon and whisky.
Some of the people on the goldfields had biscuits. Cakes, scones and puddings were popular desserts.

Gold is the most malleable and ductile of all metals; a single gram can be beaten into a sheet of 1 square metre, or an ounce into 300 square feet.
Alloys with lower caratage, typically 22k, 18k, 14k or 10k, contain higher percentages of copper.
