Typically reports a success in spite of great odds
May recall something tragic or a continuing struggle Personality

Shows how a person gained recognition
Writing like you are describing a character Informational
Gives detailed information focused on one aspect of a topic
Refers to research, quotes statistics or references, but it is NOT an encyclopedia-style report News feature
Tells about a news topic with a human-interest focus
shows personal connection to an event From Wikipedia, "A feature story is a special human interest story or article that is not closely tied to a recent news event. It goes into great detail regarding concepts and ideas of specific market interest."
Unlike straight news, the emphasis is on the people involved and in making personal connections to the story.
