Ignorance=Perceive=Ignore Ignorance Definition of Ignorance: Lack of knowledge or information. "Death of a Moth" - Virginia Woolf The existence and life of the moth are very vibrant and made aware to the woman observing it. What she is not aware of, or doesn’t take into consideration, is that with every life, comes a death. Ignorance -“But, as I stretched out a pencil, meaning to help him to right himself, it came over me that the failure and awkwardness were the approach of death. I laid the pencil down again.” Woolf was looking at life through a narrow, yet positive perspective, and that is that every life from a human’s to a moth’s is important. With that she was ignorant and did not Perceive death. Perceive Definition of Perceive: Become aware or conscious of (something); come to realize or understand. •“Joyas Volardores” – Brian Doyle - “So much held in a heart in a lifetime. So much held in a heart in a day, and hour, a moment. We are utterly open with no one in the end - not mother and father, not wife or husband, not lover, not child, not friend. We open windows to each but we live alone in the house of the heart. Perhaps we must. Perhaps we could not bear to be so naked, for fear of a constantly harrowed heart. When young we think there will come one person who will savor and sustain us always; when we are older we know this is the dream of a child, that all hearts finally are bruised and scarred, scored and torn, repaired by time and will, patched by force of character, yet fragile and rickety forevermore, no matter how ferocious the defense and how many bricks you bring to the wall.” Beneath this quote, Doyle puts out his complete understanding of what life has to offer. He perceives every perspective of life, and doesn’t Ignore harmful truths. Ignore Definition of Ignore: Refuse to take notice of or acknowledge; disregard intentionally. •“Diving Into the Wreck” – Adrienne Rich - “We are, I am, You are, by cowardice or courage, the one who find our way, back to this scene, carrying a knife, a camera, a book of myths, in which our names do not appear.” To me this means that everybody at one point will no longer be living, but as that person passes, another person is born. Ignore the negatives, and let things come and go. •“Let the Great World Spin” – Colum McCann “The world spins. We stumble on. It is enough.” This quote sums up just about all three of these concepts. Life goes on, in its own billions of different ways.
