The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn
Huckleberry Finn and his friend, Jim, a slave, must find shelter when their raft need to be repaired after being struck by a steam boat. Huck stays on the Grangerford's farm while Jim fixes the raft down at the river. Huck becomes friends with Buck Grangerford who is the same age as him and learns the Grangerford family has a 30-year feud with the Shepherdson family over a lawsuit. When Buck discovers that his older sister married Harney Shepherdson, he and his family are furious. He, his brothers and his father decide to kill the Shepherdson family but are shot and killed by them instead. After witnessing his friend's death, Huck returns to Jim to continue their adventure.
Romeo & Juliet
The Capulet and the Montague families are long time enemies. The son of the Montagues, Romeo, the daughter of the Capulets, Juliet, fall in love and secretly elope with the help of Juliet's nurse and Friar Lawrence. Shortly after, Romeo is banished from the city and Juliet's father has arranged for her to marry the Prince. Knowing this, the Friar plans for Juliet to fake her death with a potion so they can be run away and be together. She will stay asleep until Romeo comes to get her from her tomb. Believing Juliet is truly dead, Romeo drinks poison beside Juliet in her tomb. Juliet awakes from her fake death, finds Romeo dead next to her, and then really commits suicide by kissing the poison off Romeo's lips. After their deaths, the Montagues and the Capulets set aside their differences.

Conclusion
The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and Romeo & Juliet are romantic tragedies. Each portray feuding families, or hate, relationships that lead to marriage between members of the opposite families, or love, and devastating deaths. In Romeo & Juliet, each family loses a child to suicide in their attempt to be together against the wishes of their family. In Huckleberry Finn, the love, marriage, and escape of the children from the opposing families results in the bloody shoot out between the families and the deaths of the bride's brothers and father when they attempt to kill the family of the groom. Romeo & Juliet and with the families setting aside their differences. With Huck Finn running from the brawl between the families their was only death known to be the end result of the feud. In both stories, love knows no boundary and petty hate leads to grave loses.
