Transcript of Graces Capitola Jr. Guards Prezi

Created By: Grace Bailey What is Capitola Jr. guards? Competitions! Regionals! The Capitola Junior Lifeguard program is a very active, challenging, competitive program which provides instruction in the basic fundamentals of ocean water safety, first aid, lifesaving, fitness, and good sportsmanship. Jr. Guards are required to swim or be involved in ocean-oriented activities every day, so they must be comfortable swimming in the ocean before enrolling in the program. Activities include open water swimming, paddle boarding, body surfing, surfboard riding, races, mock rescues, beach & water games, calisthenics and work-outs, and competitions. Program fees include instruction, official t-shirt, and discounts with local merchants There is also a Regional Competition. The 2012 Regional Competition will be held in Newport Beach on July 27, the second week of the second session. This is similar to a State Championship. The kids need to qualify for this event and are selected by the Tola instructors. This event which takes place in Southern California requires travel by the kids and their families. If you have any questions about whether you should plan on this you should speak with your child's instructors early in the first session Capitola Junior Guards Registration and The Junior Guards program includes 3 local competitions, at Seacliff, Capitola, and Santa Cruz. Parents will need to transport their children to the locations for the 2 competitions that are off-site. Our own 2012 Capitola Competition will be held on July 5th and 6th. Volunteers are always needed at the competition. Support your children and come down to the beach! To make the Capitola competition work we need lots of parents to pass out numbers to the finishers, record names, and prepare ribbons. All of it is very easy.
