Transcript of Mechanical Pencils
Slavoljub Eduard Penkala is the inventor of the mechanical pencil (he also invented the first fountain pen). He was born on April 20, 1871 and died on February 5, 1922. Penkala invented the mechanical pencil in 1906. He started the Penkala-Moster Company and it still exists today. It's now called the TOZ Penkala.
How was the mechanical pencil used and how is it used today?
The mechanical pencil has always been used as another type of pencil. People like to use mechanical pencils in place of normal wooden pencils because they have a skinnier lead tip so it makes it much easier to write and they could last for ever as long as you have lead refills.
Innovations of the Mechanical Pencil
The first mechanical pencil was a twist feed pencil. Mechanical pencils have been improved by many ways. Here's a list of some innovations:
new mechanical pencils you can shake to get the lead out
pencils you can bend or "break" to release the lead
pencils with lots of designs and comfortable grips
to have a pencil that works
to have a pencil that doesn't need to be sharpened
to have a pencil that doesn't make a mess (pencil scraps)
to have a pencil that is stylish or cute (has designs or pictures on pencil)
to have a pencil that could last forever
A mechanical pencil is a pencil with a plastic or metal case and a thin replaceable lead that may be extended as the point is worn away by twisting the outer casing.
What is the purpose of a mechanical pencil?

A #2 pencil and a dream can take you anywhere
Lying in bed would be an altogether perfect and supreme experience if only one had a colored pencil long enough to draw on the ceiling
