Project Based Learning
Students work on a project over an extended period of time – from a week up to a semester – that engages them in solving a real-world problem or answering a complex question. They demonstrate their knowledge and skills by developing a public product or presentation for a real audience.
What is PBL?
Step 3 and 4: Practice and implementation
Students start to practice their pronunciation according to what they planned in the script.
Step 1: Planning
The PBL challenge!
An experience in project based learning through the information and communication technologies.
Information and Communication Technologies
ICT stands for "Information and Communication Technologies." This refers to technologies that provide access to information through telecommunications.
PBL + ICT
Step 2: Review and corrections.
The first and second steps are developed in class with the teacher's guide.
Finally students present their final product to the class.
Step 5: Presentation !
The Sixth grade students present a final project each term. It involves the Information and Communication Technologies for its implementation.
Teacher organizes the students in groups. According to the vocabulary and grammar seen in class, students write a script. They also imagine a name for their projects.
Accordingly, students use what nowadays is very familiar to them (Computers, internet, celphones, apps) in order to implement and present their projects.
The implementation of this project has 5 steps.
Teacher collects and reviews the scripts, does the suggestions and grammar or vocabulary corrections. Students re-write their scripts taking into account the corrections made. Teacher also uses a part of the class to explain how to use the ICT resource to implement the project.
They use the ICT proposed to implement their projects (In this case they record the videos needed to present their activities and edit them with the apps suggested by teacher).
