Mohandas K. Gandhi Mohandas K. Gandhi was born on October 2, 1869, it is also International Day of Non-Violence. He was married at the age of 13, his wife was Kastarba who was only 10. Mohandas was a known as a peacemaker in India and he was the greatest leader in India. Gandhi beleived in strength without violence. Gandhi's efforts played a major part in enforcing Britian to grant India freedom in 1947. Mohandas K. Gandhi is also commonly known as Mahatma Gandhi around the world. Mahatma died on January 25, 1948
