Transcendentalism through Popular Culture by: Lessly Talamantez Self-reliance: Free Thought: Protests: Social Networks: Definition: Definition: Ne-Yo: Hunger Games: Definition: Lupe Fiasco Lady Gaga Nonconformity: Failure or refusal to conform to a prevailing rule or practice. Lady Gaga's meat dress is a great example of nonconformity. It is different and very unique. In this song, Lupe encourages being unique, becoming an individual, knowing what you yourself are truly about. This is one of the most important transcendental ideals. He says to act as your true self, without being hindered by others.

Ralph Waldo Emerson said in Self Reliance:,
"To believe your own thought, to believe that what is true for you in your private heart is true for all men, — that is genius." Reliance on one's own capabilities, judgement or resources; independence Protesting is a great example of free thought because they express they're opinions publically and go against others opinions. They express they're thoughts in making a statement about what they believe. Thought unrestrained by deference to authority, tradition, or established belif, especially in matters of religion. Confidence: Importance of Nature: Definition: Definition: The End C: Honors English II Sixth Hour Full trust; belif in the powers, trustworthiness, or reliability of a person or thing. Belif that truth is innate in all of creation and that knowledge of truth is intuitive. The Hunger Games is a great example of Self-Reliance where 2 individuals from each district (a girl and a boy) must fight to death until only one remains. They must rely on their own potential and fight to the finish. Lupe Fiasco - 'The Show Goes On' Humger Games - Trailer Pink COVERGIRL Clump Crusher Mascara by LashBlast: PINK Commercial Pink shows off a lot of energy and confidence in this commercial as she promotes COVERGIRL's new marscara. Hall Of Fame- The Script Feat. Will.I.Am The Script/Will.I.Am: This song is a great example of confidence because in the music video, despite their(characters) problems, they work hard and have confidence achieve what they love. Disney's Friends For Change: Make A Wave-Joe Jonas and Demi Lovato Disney's Friends for Change is a pro-social "green" initiative that started in the summer of 2009. Disney stars stress environmental issues in the campaign, encouraging fans to take action. TinkerBell Trailer TinkerBell: TinkerBell shows the different things in nature. Although it displays the changes occur by faries, it portrays the importance of nature within their roles. The title is pretty self explanitory.
