Intellectual advancements
The emperor had the most power and enforced laws.
The emperor was also responsible for religious issues and rights.
The shang emperor served as the commander for large armies.

Technological discoveries
Main income came from farming or the harvest of crops
Many farmers also knew how to cultivate the silkworm and weave its tread into beautiful cloth which would be used for clothing.

Silk later became China’s main export
The artisans formed another group of the economic structure
Many artisans manufactured weapons, ritual vessels, jewelry, and other items of interest.


First to create and use bronze. 1600-1050 B.C.E
This was an oracle bone that the Shang used to talk to the gods.

The oracle bones carvings mark the beginning of written Chinese history.
Symbols still used in modern China
This was the Shang god that all of the dynasty worshiped no matter your social class. His name was Shang Ti.
Bronze was used for art, furniture,and cooking.
They had a very distinct social class about after life.

All the classes have the same religion.

The Shang Dynasty worshiped the god Shang Ti, "the lord on high"
Fuhao is a woman lead an army of 10,000 soldiers during the Shang Dynasty. She is the first woman to appear in Chinese history.

The Zodiac was a way to keep time.
