Famous Cabaret Quotes
Cabaret takes place in a 1931 Berlin during the rise of the infamous Nazi Party. Low on funds, Cambridge University student Brian Roberts finds a cheap room at a boarding house. There, he meets Sally Bowles, an american singer at the Kit Kat Klub. Sally develops an attraction for Brian only to discover that he is homosexual. Despite this, they end up having an affair. Baron Maximilian von Heune joins the scene and indulges his new friends with gifts. Sally also becomes briefly entangled with Max. She ends up pregnant but not knowing who the father is. She considers an abortion but is also proposed to by Brian and is left with a choice to make. Abort the baby and continue with the only life she knows; or have the child and never return to her glory days in the Kit Kat Klub.

Little Known Facts
Sandy Wilson, the writer of the 1920's musical, The Boyfriend, was originally going to write the show "Cabaret".
Future game show host Bert Convy portrayed Cliff in the original Broadway production.
Cabaret took place during the rise of the Nazi Regime in Germany, in the seedy Kit Kat Klub in Berlin. This culturally significant musical shows that even in the presence of evil, a positive attitude will allow for good times.
Since its conception, Cabaret was designed to make waves in society.
Director Harold Prince wanted to turn a set of stories by Cristopher Isherwood about Nazi-occupied Germany into a cautionary tale about the brutality of the Civil Rights' movement in 1960s America.
Prince literally "held a mirror up to society" (a mirror reflecting the audience was how the show opened and closed).
