Scientific Revolution
"Ideological Revolution"
Scientists began using reason instead of being told what to think by the Church
A period of time beginning around 1543 to about 1700
Creation of the scientific method
Nicholas Copernicus proves that the sun is the center of the solar system
Galileo also believes that the Earth moved around the sun - this is called Heliocentric.
He also improved telescope technology and discovers several other celestial bodies
Issac Newton developed the 3 laws of motion & the law of gravity
An object in motion will stay in motion until an outside force stops it
An object will move in the direction the force is applied
For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction
Robert Boyle is considered the Father of Chemistry. He was a pioneer of the scientific method
Galileo's heliocentric discovery clashed with Church beliefs
at the time. Placed under house arrest for heresy.
"So the sun stood still, and the moon stopped, till the nation avenged itself on its enemies, as it is written in the Book of Jashar. The sun stopped in the middle of the sky and delayed going down about a full day." - Joshua 10:13
