Annual Title 1 Parent Meeting
What is Title 1?
Title I is the largest federal assistance program for our nation’s schools.
The goal of Title I is a higher quality of education for
every
child.
The program serves millions of children in elementary and secondary schools each year. Challenger 7 is again a Title I school for the 2014-15 school year!

Working Together!
Title I law requires that all Title I schools and families work together.

How we work together is listed in our:

Parent-School Compact

Do I qualify?
What can I do to ensure my child's success?
You are your child’s first teacher.
You have the ability to influence your child’s education more than any teacher or school.
You know your child best:
Share information about your child’s interests and abilities with teachers; and
Ask to see progress reports on your child and the school
Review the school

with your child to ensure that he/she knows their responsibilites at school

Applying for Free/Reduced Lunch
visit the School Board website at
www.brevardschools.org
Choose the
Parent
tab, go to
Food Services
, then
Free and Reduced Lunch
on the website you are able to apply online (remember this is a faster way to get approved), check your application status, print out an application, and view the household income guidelines
Access
You are able to access the website from home or we will give you assistance here at school :)
Support Your Child’s Education
Share a love of learning.
Read to your child.
Ask your child to read to you
Limit T.V. time.
Take advantage of the public library, school media center, online resources, and parent trainings offered.
Show interest in your child's school day.
Ask questions
Ask to see homework
Praise their efforts
Encourage good study habits
Visit the Parent Resource Room located in the Media Center. We have reading and math games and activities for
all
grade levels. Parents are able to check out these resources and take them home. The Resource Room is open all day!!
Attend school events
Visit the classroom
Volunteer at the school
Join parents’ organizations
Keep teachers informed
Attend special parent trainings
check Edline regularly
Attend parent-teacher conferences
Be prepared for the meetings
Consider whether you have met your responsibilities as stated in the parent-school compact
List your questions before the meeting

Title I parent workshops will be offered monthly covering a variety of topics. The dates are located in the school calendar.
A Science Fair Information meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 29th. More information will be coming home in the month of September.
A Parent Leadership Team meeting will be held on Friday, September 11th in Viera. We
desperately
need parents to represent Challenger 7. We can provide transportation! Please let your child's teacher know if you are interested.
Your parent packet includes the District's Parent Involvement Plan, a free/reduced lunch application, and a School Compact.

The cost for student lunches has
increased
to $1.80 per day. If you qualify for reduced lunch you would only pay 40 cents! You might even qualify for free lunch! Please take advantage of this service provided for your family. If your child qualified for free/reduced lunch last school year your application
must
be renewed during the first 30 days of the new school year. Please let us know if you need any help!
