Transcript of Exponential Growth and Decay

Exponential Growth and Decay! A function of the form f(x) = ab^x, with a > 0 and b > 1, is an Exponential Growth function, which increases as x increases. When 0 < b < 1, the function is called an Exponential Decay function, which decreases as x increases. represents the y a b x total amount initial amount;
y-intercept growth factor;
base time Exponential Growth Exponential Decay Exponential growth and decay functions have an which is a line that the graphed function approaches as x increases or decreases. (The graph will never touch the asymptote) y = ab x increases at an increasing rate! decreases at a decreasing rate!
