Transcript of zodiac killler

The Zodiac Killer The serial killer of the San Francisco Bay Area had admitted to killing 37 people and has still never been found. This is the Mystery of the Zodiac Killer. We convict Arthur Leigh Allen PossibleSuspects Victims Betty Lou Jensen and David Faraday Darlene Ferrin and Michael Mageau Cecilia Shepard, and Calvin Hartnell Robert Domingo and Linda Edwards Arthur Leigh Allen Rick Marshall Lawrence Kane Michael o' Hare Bruce Davis Connecting evidence In November 1966, two anonymous, typewritten Bates-murder confession letters were mailed to the local police and newspaper. Allen later hinted it was true, first claiming to have been “in the area” at the time, then telling people he was in nearby Pomona when he first heard of the Bates murder. There were also many letters connecting Allen to the Zodiac killer. One cipher was directly translated into Leigh (Arthur Allen’s middle name.) In late April 1967, three anonymous letters referring to Bates were mailed; these letters were marked with a strange symbol that could either be a sloppy z or the number 32. A z for zodiac, or a 32 because at the time Allen was 32 years old, his address was 32 Fresno St. in Vallejo, California. Later the Zodiac would create a cipher that contained 32 symbols. Of the letter sent to the police, DNA samples were taken of the seal of the envelope and stamps, from the Zodiac’s saliva. The DNA actually matched Allen’s DNA, According to Robert Graysmith the chief of police in the Vallejo area, he no longer received any anonymous hang-ups that occurred 2-3 a month after Allen had died The terror started in the late 1960’s when the Zodiac killer murdered people and then sent cryptograms and messages to the local newspapers. The first murders of the Zodiac Killer were the shootings of high school students Betty Lou Jensen and David Faraday on December 20, 1968. The couples were parked in a remote area known as ‘lover’s lane’. The killer drove up next to them and shot them down at that exact spot. No police leads were developed of this murder. The next murder was committed on midnight of July 5th 1969 four miles away from where the first murder occurred. Darlene Ferrin and Michael Mageau drove to the Blue Rock Springs Golf Course in Vallejo, California, where they parked. A car pulled up behind them, a man got out of the car and shot both of them three times initially, then two more times as one of the victims groaned. Mageau, miraculously survived the shooting, but could not provide any information. 40 minutes later the Vallejo Police received a phone call from a man claiming responsibility for the murder, and of the previous murder six months earlier. Police traced the call but were not able to catch the killer. On August 1, 1969, three letters prepared by the killer were sent to three local newspapers, within the letter they said, he took credit for the killings, and if they were not published the next day he will go on a killing spree. Within the letters were the cryptograms of the zodiac signs. Another letter was sent to a newspaper after the police asked him to provide more details about the killings. He referred to himself as the Zodiac. The cryptogram was eventually cracked but there was no name in the text. In the evening of September 29, 1969 Cecilia Shepard, and Calvin Hartnell were laying by the lakeside on a romantic night. The location was in Napa Valley California at Lake Berryessa. According to the police report, a man about 6 feet tall, wearing a mask, while carrying hand gun approached the couple. We proclaimed that he was an escaped from a prison in Colorado and wanted money. After several minutes of conversation Hartwell gave the man his wallet and car keys but was never taken. The killer tied both of them up and began to stab them both. There were no known witnesses. Minutes after the attack park rangers came to rescue the couple, but it was too late for Cecilia Shepard, Hartnell miraculously survived being stabbed six times. Shepard was stabbed ten times before dying in the ambulance. The police received a phone call, it was the Zodiac killer stating what he did at the murder scene. There was also a message of other dates and the peoples names that he killed lying in the victim’s car. From September to October three more murders were reported by the Zodiac Killer himself, all in the same area of the first murders. More letters and codes were arriving in October of 1969 he kept sending codes with a swatch of his victims shirts in the letter to confirm that he is the Zodiac killer. He ended every letter with the Zodiac sign and the number of victims he claimed. Each letter that he sent the number was rising until the last letter he sent had the number 37. Surviving victims of the Zodiac’s killing path were Robert Domingo and Linda Edwards, two college students at a nearby community college in California. They were sunbathing on the beach when the Zodiac killer approached them. He proceeded to shoot Domingo 11 times in the chest, and Edwards 9 times. Amazingly they both survived the attack, but were critically injured. To confirm the Zodiacs identity, his finger prints were all over the weapon that they found nearby the crime scene. Cheri Jo Bates Allen’s shoe size (10.5) was the same as the killer’s, he also owned and regularly wore a sports watch that was a Zodiac brand with the same logo used by the killer. A gruesome, yet crafty, brilliant killer Allen is alleged to have made these claims to his friend, Don Cheney:
He would like to kill couples at random.
He would taunt the police with letters detailing his crimes.
He would sign the letters with the cross-circle symbol from his watch.
He would call himself "Zodiac."
He would wear make-up to change his appearance.
He would attach a flashlight to the barrel of his gun in order to shoot at night.
He would fool women into stopping their cars in rural areas by claiming they had problems with their tires, then loosen their lug nuts and eventually take them captive.
He would shoot children as they got off of the school bus.
