New Hampshire by: Jose Gamez and Benjamin Paul Malone New Hampshire is right here. Right next to good ol' Maine. New Hampshire was founded in 1679 by colonists that were looking for fertile land and economic opportunity. state bird: Purple Finch. state flower: Purple Lilac. New Hampshire's first settlement was founded by Massachusetts Bay colonists. David Thomson founded New Hampshire's first settlement in 1623 known as Strawberry Banke [Now known as Portsmouth.]. If you've been wondering, who David Thomson was well, he was born on December 30, 1623. Founder of Strawberry Banke [a.k.a: Portsmouth.]. So, we've been thinking if you wanted a more descriptive answer for " Why was New Hampshire founded? ". Well... New Hampshire was a planned colony and was founded in 1623. The land in the New World was granted to Captain John Mason who lived in the New Hampshire Colony, England. He sent settlers to the new colony to create a fishing colony. However, he died before ever seeing where he had spent a considerable amount of money building towns and defenses. So there, your got your answer. Happy? The colonists of the new colonies expanded the ideas of religion by migrating to other countries like the first Thanksgiving. Freedom of speech in New Hampshire is protected by the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution and by many state constitutions and state and federal laws. Thanks for Watching!
