Revelation, p.867

THE SETTING:
Tim LaHaye on Revelation 6:1-2 (Bible.org):
Christ opens the first of the seven-sealed scroll, and the rider on the white horse (probably Antichrist) appears, using diplomacy and the promise of peace to establish his one-world government.
THE ANTICHRIST
1 John 2:18    Dear children, this is the last hour; and as you have heard that the antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come. This is how we know it is the last hour.

1 John 2:22 Who is the liar? It is whoever denies that Jesus is the Christ. Such a person is the antichrist—denying the Father and the Son.

1 John 4:3 but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world.

2 John 7    I say this because many deceivers, who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh, have gone out into the world. Any such person is the deceiver and the antichrist.
Rev. 7:3 “Do not harm the land or the sea or the trees until we put a seal on the foreheads of the servants of our God.”

Rev. 9:4 They were told not to harm the grass of the earth or any plant or tree, but only those people who did not have the seal of God on their foreheads.

Rev. 14:1    Then I looked, and there before me was the Lamb, standing on Mount Zion, and with him 144,000 who had his name and his Father’s name written on their foreheads.

Rev. 22:4 They will see his (God's) face, and his name will be on their foreheads.
The Mark of the Beast:
they could not buy or sell unless they had the mark
Exodus 13:9 This observance will be for you like a sign on your hand and a reminder on your forehead that this law of the LORD is to be on your lips. For the LORD brought you out of Egypt with his mighty hand.

Jeremiah 31:33 (cf. Hebrews 8:10; 10:16) “This is the covenant I will make with the people of Israel
after that time,” declares the LORD.
“I will put my law in their minds
and write it on their hearts.
I will be their God,
and they will be my people.

The Mark of the Beast:
Rev. 13:17-18 so that they could not buy or sell unless they had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of its name. This calls for wisdom. Let the person who has insight calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man. That number is 666.
"I love her whose number is 545."
-An oft-quoted graffito from Pompeii (about a.d. 79)

The apocalyptic Sibylline Oracles used "888," the numerical equivalent of Jesus's name
The Setting & The Purpose:
Rev. 1:8    “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.”
Rev. 5:5,9-10, 13 Then one of the elders said to me, “Do not weep! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed... because you were slain, and with your blood you purchased for God persons from every tribe and language and people and nation. You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God, and they will reign on the earth.”...“Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!”

Rev. 20:10 And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
Rev. 21:1-7 (p.878)
Rev. 22:17 Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life.
Rev. 22:20    He who testifies to these things says, “Yes, I am coming soon.”
Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.
