The Three Musketeers Alexandre Dumas War stories of his father Real history with fictional characters Writer all his life Unusual writing style The Story The trifecta of politics, conspiracy, and love. These three, intertwined masterfully with history is very gripping. D'Artagnan travels to Paris to become a musketeer. Gains the friends Porthos, Athos, and Aramis. Earns the favour of the king. Becomes an enemy of the cardinal. Gets indirectly involved with the queen by falling in love. The cardinal then wishes to gain power by overthrowing the queen. Themes? Exposition The Middle The queen falls into distress. The cardinal suceeds with his trap for the queen. However the musketeers right this wrong. The cardinal thereby kidnapps D'Artagnan's lover. The musketeers then go to retieve her. The cardinal then orders him to be assassinated. Assassin escapes to England. The Conclusion They imprison the assassin. She escapes and murders the Duke of Buckingham. She then escapes back to France to get revenge. Then Milady murders D'Artagnan's lover. They execute her. ~Specials~ The entire book is based on true events. Characters are extremely complex and whole. Complete book and an adaptable story.
