Where are these dunes located? These dunes are located in a texas state park. Monahans Sandhills How did they form? These dunes formed from years and years of erosion When did they form? 1957 What keeps dunes stable? When the sand falls to an angle of about 30-34 degrees it will become stable. What are "Active dunes?" Active dunes are normally in open desert areas where the shape of one dune affects the wind and that changes the shape of the next dune, like ocean waves How is weathering and erosion involved in the formation? erosion moves them onto land forming dunes Why is it constantly changing? Because erosion is constantly moving the minerals that make up the dune What types of animals roamed the area according to fossils?
