Transcript of Watership Down
Richard Adams was born on May 9, 1920, in Newbury, Berkshire, England. He studied modern history before going on to serve in the British army in World War II. Watership Down (published in 1972) was Adams' first novel and his most successful. Two years later, Adams became a full time author.
The group, with the guidance of Hazel and fiver, travel many days until they reach Watership Down. They intend to make it their new home, however there is a small problem. They are all male rabbits.
The group befriends a wounded bird, Kehaar, who will lead them to a nearby warren to find does (female rabbits)
The book tells the story of a group of rabbits who are in search of a new home.
It all starts when Fiver has a vision of a great danger approaching the warren. He and Hazel tell the leader of the warren, but the Chief does not believe them.
Hazel decides to gather as many rabbits that want to come along in escaping the warren.
*Hazel: the leader of the rabbits
*Bigwig: the most courageous and strongest fighter of the group
*Fiver: Hazel's brother. He sees things that no other rabbit can see.
*Blackberry: the smartest
*Dandelion: the fastest
*Kehaar: the bird that helps them find another warren
Hazel leads some of the rabbits to the nearby warren called Efrafra. They intend to bring back does so their warren will survive. With some difficulty the group manages to bring back does and their warren eventually prospers and thrives.
