And Te Anau

Adrenaline Filled Adventure
Arrowtown and Museum
The original plan was to go to Milford Sound, but we got so much snow in the area around Te Anau that they closed the road to Milford. We ended up going to Doubtful Sound which all of the locals say is prettier. It was absolutely gorgeous and we even saw a baby seal! While we were there we also went and saw the glowworm caves. it looked like someone took all of the stars in the sky and put them in the ceiling of a cave; It was phenomenal!
While in Arrowtown for the first time, we went to the Museum and got a tour of all of the historic buildings in town. Then we went and saw the old Chinese miners houses/huts. We then split up and half went to a cute cafe in town while others went to go find where one of the scenes from The Lord of the Rings was filmed. When we came the second time, we went gold panning and got just enough gold for one ice cream cone!

Vol XCIII, No. 311
Arriving In Queenstown
We went to Coronet Peak one evening
and moved into the cabin we would be
staying in for two nights. Then, some
of us went night skiing, which was a
whole new experience for all of us
Aspen kids! The snow was a bit cold,
but it was amazing to be skiing
above treeline, at night, with only huge
floodlights to show where to go. We
stayed at the cabin that night and skied
for the whole next day.
Queenstown NZ 2014
And we’re off! We flew from Denver to San Francisco and from San Francisco to Auckland. From there we flew to Queenstown and started our adventure. It took a while but we made it to our Kiwi Families and started the fun right away with a pool party/movie showing. Immediately we realized how kind and funny the people in New Zealand are.
Thank you so much for giving us all this amazing opportunity for us to travel and represent Aspen in a different country. We all learned so much from this trip and it was a really good experience for all of us. This trip opened our eyes as to what we can do and what we can learn if we decide to travel and put ourselves out there.
