Works Cited Interesting facts about Draper Sharon Draper usually has yogurt and
walnuts for breakfast. If she could pick
any famous person to have lunch with she
would pick Denzel Washington. Ms. Draper
would hate being left in a room alone with
no books. Honesty, love, and sinerity inspire
her, and she hates it when people do not try
and just give up! Romiette and Julio is a classic
teenage love story. The story of
Romiette and Julio is a modern version
of Romeo and Juliet. In the story
Romiette has a terrible fear of water
and fire. She believe Julio can rescue
her from that fear and they fall in love. As Romiette and Julio begin to pursue
their relationship they realize that not everyone approves of the love that they share. The reason is because Romiette is African American and Julio is Hispanic. There is a local gang called the devildogs
who are totally opposed to interricial relationships. When the gang threatens to teach
the two a lesson the two love birds develop a plan
of escape. However, things do not go as planned and the two find themselves in a deadly situation that is much worse than Romiette has ever dreamed. The two have to make a
life changing decision that
could cause them to take both of their lives. Criticisms of Romiette and Julio "A first-rate novel about comtemporary teens"
