Now is national-recognized city was a population of 184,700 citizens and a square mileage of 75.6
1960-1980: Metcalf South Shopping Center, Corporate Woods, Children's Farmstead, City Hall, Oak Park Mall and many residential subdivisions
1981-1990- Population hit 100,000 in 1988. Experienced a quick jump in commercial and residential development
Early 1990- Renovated downtown and Clock Tower Plaza and Farmers' Market Pavilion was created
2000's- Continuation of development due to thriving economy and increase demand for new businesses
