How does fear affect the individual and society?
Fear is an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to cause pain, or a threat. to be fearful is to be afraid of someone or something likely to be dangerous, painful, or threatening.

Fear can manipulate and influence someones choices.
Textual evidence:
"Why should only two go? If we find anything, two wont be enough."

They're trying to find the beast, but they know they dont have enough people to fight it. They dont know if the beast is dangerous.
Fear of Reality can influence our choices and behaviors.
Textual Evidence:
"That was Simon. That was murder."
"Im frightened of us."

"If we don't get home soon, we'll be barmy."
Page 165
Ralph has the realiation that they killed Simon, He realizes that his life could also be in danger.
Piggy is afraid of going insane and wants to get home as soon as possible to prevent his fear from becoming reality.
When a person experiences a harsh reality, they are often frightened.
Simply put: Fear Spreads.
"Now they talk- not only the littluns, but my hunters."
Textual evidence:
Page 83
The fear of the beast has spread from the littluns to the hunters who claimed to not be afraid.
Fear not only comes from others but from ourselves as well.
Textual evidence
"The mask was a thing of its own, behind which jack hid, liberated from his shame and self consciousness."
Jack may be fearful of his own madness and finds that the mask of paint allows him to be someone else and pretend that person in the mask is not him. Hes hiding from himself.

Fear is dangerous and it exists everyday and everywhere. It lives inside of us. We fear ourselves, we fear others, we fear pain, we fear what people think of us, we live in fear of our everyday lives. But our fear would be very different from these buys fear. While our fear may be waking up late or failing a test or getting pick pocketed on our way home, the boys on this island face a far greater fear. Every day they live in fear of death, being eaten, or even being killed by the "beast." fear comes in all shapes and sizes and influences us in many different ways.
The most powerful force known to mankind is not weapons such and bombs or guns or natural disasters such as earthquakes. It is our own mind. our own thoughts and behaviors. Our thoughts construct our reality. We let our fears control us. Fear is the best weapon of all great manipulators. It can move people to do anything, no matter how illogical and stupid.
“Neither a man nor a crowd nor a nation can be trusted to act humanely or to think sanely under the influence of a great fear.”

Society and almost everyone around us uses fear to control others. You may not think that its a big deal but even you use this same technique everyday. maybe when your home and your dog does something wrong so you spank it, then the dog normally would learn not to do it again in fear of being hurt again. People are trained the same as animals. We are told what is wrong and what is right and what to fear aswell. If someone does something wrong they are punished in hope to make them not do it again. just like dogs. we are taught to fear others.
In June of 1919, after world war 1, people were so afraid that reality would come back and happen again that they took a lot of precautions. They were so fearful that it would happen again, that they decided to take away Germany's entire airforce, most of it's navy, and its army was limited to 100,000 people. German was also forced to give up some it it's land to France and pay for the cost of the war, which was more than 132 billion marks ($400 billion in todays money) on their own and they weren't able to pay it all off until 2010. The world was determined not to have another ww1. they were fearful of the reality that once was happening again. or feared the worst reality had yet to come and preferred not to find out.
Because of outbreak of Ebola, Korean citizens were fearful. when the disease first showed up no one feared too much. people said "you can't get Ebola unless you go to Africa" and a lot of people were truly annoyed with this outbreak but some were truly worried and frightened. Nurses in Korea began quitting their jobs in fear of catching the disease. funny how fear can spread so quickly.
Thoughts have a huge effect on the body. We create our on fears and we twist our own reality. Our thoughts construct our reality as easily as it can destroy it. People can corrupt their own minds cause fear affects our perception. After watching a horror movie, a person may become scares of simple objects because that persons fear has been affected by what they watched, causing them to find simple object fearful. We let fear control us. Your fear affects you and the people around you.
