Transcript of Angkor Wat
Built by Khmer king Suryavarman II (r. 1113-1150). Each of the Khmer kings built a temple mountain at Angkor and installed his personal god, either Shira, Vishnu, or the Buddha, on top. Angkor Wat was built to associate Suryavarman II with his personal god Vishnu. The five towers symbolize the five peaks of Mount Meru, the sacred mountain at the center of the universe.
