Transcript of Agricultural Robots
Agriculture. Our most important economic activity, producing the greatest needs for our survival.
Did you know that planet Earth's population is estimated to be 9 BILLION by 2050?
Our efficiency of agricultural productivity has to increase by 25% in order to sustain that up-coming population.
Robots have helped these needs for 6 decades by increasing the efficiency and reducing the cost of industrial production and products.
So far, robots have helped with pruning, thinning, harvesting, mowing, spraying, weeding, and more!
It's been shown that in the fruit industry, workers ride robotic platforms instead of ladders, which makes them twice as efficient.
This is Weedy the robot. He works in the field, and uses a sensor fusion based autonomous mechatronic system for selective weed control.
This little six-legged robot, named Prospero, drills holes to drop seeds into. It also covers the hole back up once it's finished dropping the seed in.
