walk through
- a few people use it "the right way" (some wiki gardener ("Redakteur")
- strong sponsoring by FBL - an important factor
- I guess ...
- a lot of people are neutral and read some articles (even they don't see a benefit today)
- some people don't like the wiki and the idea to share the knowledge
- perhaps one or two (to optimistic?) hate to change something
acceptance
technical view
- we have a good start
- initial charging with "Till's wiki" !!
- today we have a simple structure
- but slow increase of content
usability
- basic using is easy (and should be possible for everyone)
- advanced features used only by me
- wiki gardener currently learning this features
- more people need better understanding of wiki handling
next steps
with less effort house keeping
(page content and structure)
- trigger more attention ,
how ? >> discussion
- to fill colleague profiles
- to fill project list
- workshop: how to use our wiki
- more???
structure
what does it mean?
structure of page tree ("behind the scene")
a special feature of confluence wiki
mother-child relation
this is explicite structure (automatic via creation)
"structure" of linking pages ("what you see")
relations between pages everyone can see
these are implicite structures (in content)
why is structure important?
user wants to find information easy
a good search function will do the job
tagging will support the search function
discussion ...
this presentation is inspired by
Tim Berners-Lee
red line
blue line
Viewing/Editing: 700/80...500/40...800/90...550/45...1500/60...?
no technical problems
minimal entropy of structure
growing ?
current state
users should not be afraid to create pages at the
"wrong place" - just use the "Themensammler"

it's easy to remove pages
the difficult part is to know the destination

wikigardener may help to
find the "right destination"

destination depends from structure and
structure originates from link destinations
ideas!
questions?
used by some macro functions
structure without content is meaningless
the end
what do you think?
see YouTube "Davos 2010 - IdeasLab with MIT - Tim Berners-Lee"
there is no wrong or right structure
perhaps a structure is better than another
but that is a moving target (dynamic by content)
IMPORTANT !
