Soccer The game that changed the world. All the great players, all the great moments, the history, things, and ideas, that make soccer great. History Soccer

Soccer is the most popular sport in the world and it has a very interesting history. The first game invented that was close to soccer was a 200 B.C. game invented by Asians where you kick a ball through a tiny silk hole held up by two poles. Hundreds of years later in China a new, more modern-like game of soccer was invented. Even though it was say more modern it still wasn’t close to what the game is today. Imagine if soccer had no rules and a player could kill the opponent if he was trying to score. That is roughly what the Chinese soccer game was like. Other places like Greece and Rome had their own version of soccer.

In 1314 the mayor of England quickly stopped the violent game. Even though there was a ban English school children played to stay fit. Soon after that there were matches between schools. Because of the quickly growing sport, England is considered the father of modern soccer.

500 years later there are beginning to be tournaments and in 1863 Cobb Morley changed the game of soccer by making the Rules of the Game. Although the rules have changed, Morley’s idea Changed soccer forever by making it what it is today. He also founded the Football (soccer) Association and by 1930 most nations had joined FIFA (Federation of International Football (soccer) Association). Now FIFA is a major company that hosts one of soccer’s greatest tournaments, the World Cup. It is amazing how a game of severe injury in China could become a popular sport with 3 billion people around the world playing it. That is why soccer is such an amazing game. Players World Cup

Every four years in a specially selected country soccer’s largest competition is held. The contest is called the World Cup. Many national teams go through a complicated qualifying process to be one of the 32 teams that get split up into eight separate groups with four teams each. After qualifying the 64 game World Cup begins with a group stage where each of the 4 teams plays each other once. After group stages are played the two best teams from each group play in a round of 16 teams where if you lose you’re eliminated. After 8 teams are sent home in the round of 16 the round of 8 is played and 4 teams are eliminated. After the round of 8 is done there are 4 teams remaining. The 4 teams play each other and the winners go on to the final where they play for the World Cup. The winner of that game is the champion and the loser is 2nd place. There is also a 3rd place game where the two losers in the round of 4 play each other and the winner gets 3rd place. It may be complicated and seem like a lot of work but people love it and every four years men and women will put on there country’s colored face paint and try to cheer their team to victory on soccer’s biggest stage.

History of the World Cup

The World Cup is such a great competition it’s obvious that it has some great history. It was started being put together in the 1920’s by men wanting to see great soccer teams together. The first World Cup was held in Uruguay in 1930. Shortly later World War II put a 12 year stop to the World Cup. There have been 16 World Cups so far. The World Cup has had 7 different winners. The people that put the World Cup together made soccer a much more popular sport.
Leagues

Soccer has many leagues all across the world. Some leagues are more popular than others depending on how popular soccer is in that country. One of the most popular leagues’ is the UFEA Champions League. The American league is the MLS. There are also international leagues. The club team leagues are made up of…
Club Teams

Club teams are what make up the leagues. The more money the team has the more successful the team usually is. (Think of the New York Yankees) So naturally the more money the team has the more the player gets paid. It is also common that oversea teams are better than American teams. The top six teams that are considered the best in the world are AC Milan, Barcelona FC, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Chelsea FC, and Arsenal FC.
