July 1, 2013

Coaches are made up of Different Ingredients

By attending Reading Coach District meetings I am able to collaborate with reading coaches at all levels of experience and knowledge and bring back new ideas for our school.
Collaborate with the district and school to communicate literacy goals in each direction.
Facilitate development of a school vision that is site-based and linked to district goals.
My Plan as a Reading Coach
By analyzing test data and actual student
classwork, as a literacy coach I can:
Suggest assessments
assist teachers in administering assessments
interpret data
design instruction from assessments

I will work alongside teachers in the classroom, study groups, and other professional development classes.

As Reading Coach....

I understand that implementing
literacy programs is a building
process.

New methods should be taught in small groups, modeled in classrooms by me, independent teacher lessons, and continuous feedback between the teacher and I.

I will be supportive not evaluative. I will help the teachers learn new methods and give evaluations at a later point.

OVERALL GOAL IS TO RELEASE RESPONSIBILITY!!!
