"Nothing really matters, anyone can see, Nothing really matters, nothing really matters to me
...anyway the wind blows" Obstacle 1 Start Music As Poetry Project "Mama, just killed a man, put a gun against his head, pulled my trigger, now he's dead" What is allusion Acceptance Examples of Imagery an expression designed to make a reference to something else indirectly What is Imagery? Period 4 english Bohemian Rhapsody
by Queen byDesiree Gdinez and Stacy Ojala SONGWRITER: Freddie Mercury copyright: Queen Music Unlimited SONG: Bohemian Rhapsody Denial "Is this the real life?
Is this just fantasy?
Caught in a landslide
No escape from reality" My thoughts the author is in denial about the situation he is in and feels as if it's surreal song with lyrics Interpretation Plot- A young man just killed someone & is about to be executed in front of the town. He goes through several emotions: denial, hopelessness, anger, and finally acceptance. Hopelessness "Mama, life had just begun, but now I've gone & thrown it all away. Mama oo didn't mean to make you cry. If I'm not back again this time tomorrow carry on, carry on as if nothing really matters." At this point, he's feeling hopeless. He asks his family to carry on because he believes that his life doesn't really matter My thoughts Anger "So you think you can stone me and spit in my eye
So you think you can love me and leave me to die
Oh baby - can't do this to me baby
Just gotta get out - just gotta get right outta here" My Thoughts You can see that the character is angry by what he's saying and the tone he is using. The music also sounds angry. The instruments get louder and the beat gets faster. My Thoughts When he states "nothing really matters anyone can see, nothing really matters to me," and "anyway the wind blows," he's expressing acceptance of his death. Reflected by his soft speech and the calmness in his tone as well as the background music which sounds tranquilizing "sends shivers down my spine, body's aching all the time" "anyway the wind blows" when something is visually descriptive, and you can put an image in your head of the scene Examples of allusion "scaramouch, scaramouch, will you do the fandango" "Beezlebub has a devil put aside for me..." "Bismillah! -No, we will not let you go- let him go" The End What is personification? personification is when you give an object human-like qualities How is it used in my song? "spare him his life from this monstrosity" obviously, there's no real monster, what it's referring to is the situation he's in; he's being executed What is indirect characterization? when the author clues you, but doesn't tell you certain qualities that a character has Example " im easy come, easy go" "nothing really matters to me" The author indirectly tells us that the character has no care for his life and probably thinks low of himself What is dialogue ....who doesn't know? for those of you that dont know... it is when a character speaks Example "oh mama mia, mama mia, mama mia, let me go" hes saying this to everyone watching him, about to be executed What is an anaphora? a part of the poem/song that repeats itself word for word Example "is this the real life? is this just fantasy?" "is this" repeats itself thereforfe "is this" is an anaphora
