Transcript of Alicia Keys
was born on January 25, 1981 in Harlem, New York. Alicia Keys is a popular R&B vocalist, songwriter, and pianist. She was born from a Caucasian mother Teresa Augello, and an African-American father Craig Cook. Her parents were separated when she was young. In 1985, she played a part in the hit comedy show, The Cosby Show. Alicia was taking piano lessons that her mother insisted she do at the age of seven. She stoke with playing the piano which help led her to Manhattan's distinguished Professional Performance Arts School where she majored in choir. At age sixteen Alicia had graduateed because she performed good academically. Her Big Brake Alicia had attention of record companies when she was in high school. Record companies started to do bidding wars for her talent and she decided to sign a deal with Clive Davis,head of Arista Records in 1998. She was accepted to Columbia University with a full scholarship and only attended for four weeks before she departed and decided to dedicate herself to her music. Alicia wrote her debut albums with songs that she been working on years before"Songs in A Minor", which went out August 19, 2001, which went platnuim five times over. Her album won her five Grammy Awards in 2002. On Her Way to The Top In 2002 Alicia released another single from her 1st
album,"Woman's Worth" which gave equal success. Since she wrote her own songs and played several instruments, she was recognized as a original voice singer who gets two thumbs up. She was the most popular artist of the 21st century. Critics thought they she imitated 1970's soul singers, but she was able to prove herself as a successful solo singer. She wrote songs for other artist like Christina Aguilera, Jamie Fox, Quincy Jones and wrote songs for movies like Shaft, Dr. Dolittle and more. life of Alicia Keys In late 2003, Alicia released her second album,"Dairy Of Alicia Keys", which went straight to the top of Billboard R&B charts, and won her four Grammy's in 2005. She was one of the performers to sing"America The Beautiful" at the super bowl on February 6, 2005 for 150 students from a School for the Death and Blind. She also sung at the 47th Annual Grammy Award. She started acting and starred in the movie,"Smokin' Aces" and
"Nanny Diaries" 2007,before releasing album "As I Am" it became
her fourth number one album. Then she returned to the top of the Billboard charts with "Empire State of Mind " She released her Fourth studio album"The Element of Freedom" in December 2009 which went platnium. It didn't reach number one in the U.S., but it did reach number one in U.K. Which made her first chart-topping album in Europe and upgrading her status to an global artist. In 2009, Alicia started working closely with producer Swizz Beatz. They started with a relationship in May. She got engaged to Swizz in 2010 and made it official at a wedding ceremony on the French Island of Corisca on July 31,2010 . After she found out she was pregnant with her first child. Their son, Egypt Daoud Ibarr Dean, was born October in New York City. After she had her baby she went right back in the studio to work on her music June 2011 when she went on a short tour. Then tried making a short film called "Project 5" with other directors. Then she released a new single "Girl on Fire"which was followed by "Brand New Me" in September 2012 for her first single of her fifth studio album on November 27, 2012 through RCA Records since her old label was disbanded
