THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK, CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK AND PARADIGM OF THE STUDY
Defining terms
Framework
–a structural plan or basis of a written work. Described as the abstract, logical structure of meaning that guide the development of the study.

Theories
–are purposely created and formulated.
It is constructed in order to explain, predict a phenomena .

Concept
–a general idea or understanding of something.
It is conceived by the mind, It describes and names an object or phenomenon.

CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK
Consist of concepts that are broadly defined, and systematically organize to provide a focus, a rationale

It is based on specific concepts and proposition, derived from empirical observation and intuition.

Used in research to outline possible courses of action or to present a preferred approach to an idea or thought.

PARADIGM OF THE STUDY
(CONCEPTUAL PARADIGM)
A visual presentation of variables that interrelate with one another as perceived by the researcher before an actual empirical investigation is done to prove its relationships.

Its purpose is to provide an audience with an illustration of similar occurrence. It also aims to solve the problem by using processing elements.
Input Process Output
(IPO MODEL)

It is viewed as series of boxes (processing elements) connected by inputs and outputs. Flow charts and Process diagram are often used to represent the process.

The IPO Model will provide the general structure and guide for the direction of the study.

PURPOSE OF CONCEPTUAL FRAME WORK
To clarify concepts and propose relationships among the concepts in a study.

To provide a context for interpreting the study findings.

To explain observations.

To encourage theory development that is useful to practice

PURPOSE OF THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK

To test theories
To make research findings meaningful and generalizable
To establish orderly connections between observations and facts.
To predict and control situations.
To stimulate research.

Introduces and describes the theory that explains why the research problem under study exists.

Provides a broad rationale for predictions about the relationships among variables of a research study.

The function of theory in research is to identify the starting point of the research problem and to establish the vision to which the problem is directed.
