iron ore 92%
carbon 3-4% (released from burning of Charcoal)
silicon .5-3%
manganese .5-6%
phosphorous .1-2%
traces of sulfur 0.01-0.05%

Charcoal releases carbon monoxide when it is burned

Physical Properties
It is weak and brittle
It cant be welded or riveted
it is difficult to bend
it has a low melting point (1200 degrees Celsius, when compared to steel which has a melting point of 1400+)
How it Was Discovered
It was not clear when pig iron first became known in human technology, but some experts believe, that it was first used in China around the 11th century B.C.E.

$405 per ton

90-95% of pure iron

and other impurities that include:
Sulphur
Phosphorus
Magnesium
It is produced in a blast furnace where smelting the iron ore with a high-carbon fuel such as coke, usually with limestone will act as a flux, and produce the pig iron.

Got its name from a group of molds resembled a litter of sucking pigs.
Used to make artillery such as cannons

It is used for making column,base plate,bracket.
Airplanes use pig iron as a cheap, dense ballast that can be moved around as needed.
It can be used to craft simple, decorative metal pieces used for external building decoration.
