People are now beginning to realize that they are hurting marine life and the ocean itself. Marine Biologists and scientists are trying to help the ocean and its creatures living in it. Most of our food comes from oceans, more than 90 million fish are caught each year by fisherman. The ocean provides the majority of our oxygen and rain itself. It is home to many marine life even some unnamed, undiscovered species. How is math used in this career? Marine Biology is a scientific career that requires a lot of mathmatical and scientific knowledge. They have to know the distance marine life comes from or the size of the animal. They need to know formulas and units of measure and metric. What type of written and verbal skills are important in:
1. Working in teams: You work with other marine biologists whether its in a lab doing reserach or under water. You also work with other conservations/organizations. You need to be able to talk to eachother, be polite, and work together.
2. Dealing with customers: Be polite, use manners, and find out what they need you to do.
They are often asked to serve on public committees, especially related to enviromental matters. They often give public lectures. Pictures!
