GRAMMAR:
Under Common Core, the 7th grade grammar focus is
sentence structure
and
misplaced modifiers
. Grammar instruction is embedded in writing lessons and novel unit activities.
Throughout the year, students will practice...
Students will be keeping an Interactive Notebook - a composition notebook - for novel studies.
They will take lecture notes and paste important worksheets in the notebook. Each page has a number and a purpose, as well as two sections to the notebook.
This aids in organization & making connections in learning.
Writing genres in seventh grade include:
Informational writing,
Argumentative writing
Research Projects, and
Response to Literature
Students
will also practice
presenting research information to the class to further develop speaking,
viewing, &
listening skills.
