up the contents of the nucleus of a cellThe primary functions of chromatin are; to package DNA into a smaller volume to fit in the cell, to strengthen the DNA to allow mitosis and meiosis and prevent DNA damage, and to control gene expression and DNA replication. Chromatin is like a book beacuse it holds the instructions for mitosis and meiosis. Centrioles produce the cell's cytoskeleton which is made up of microtubules and microfilaments that allow the movement for all kinds of things in the cell, including the chromosomes during mitosis and meiosis. And where the microfilaments attach to. A real life example would be a foundation of a building where the scaffolding is. Nucleus maintain the integrity of these genes and to control the activities of the cell by regulating gene expression — the nucleus is, therefore, the control center of the cell. The nucleus is like the brain becasuse the brain controls what is happening in our body and regulates hormones and makes sure we are good. Cytoskeleton system of microtubules and microfilaments which runs all through the cell, particularly just under the plasma membrane. Microtubules and microfilaments are responsible for all kinds of movement functions that happens within the cell. The cytoskeleton is like railroad tracks because the railroad tracks are how supplies and resources are moved around within America. Nucleolus Makes ribosomes A real life example would be a cookbook because just like a cookbook shows you how to make food the nucleolus shows the cell how to make ribosomes. Mitochondria breaks down sugars (glucose) molecules to release energy and the site of aerobic respiration A real life example would be a power plant because like the mitochondria a powerplant breaks down a resource and turns that into power for the city. Golgi Apparatus Modifies proteins made by the cells, packages and exports proteins and processes and packages proteins after their synthesis and before they make their way to their destination within the cell. A real life example would be a FedEx shipping building, becasue like the Golgi Apparatus the FedEx building recieves packages, processes and then ships the package. Lysosome Breaks down large food molecules into smaller molecules so that it is useable by the cell, and decomposes or hydrolyze waste and biomolecules A real life example would be a garbage disposal because like the Lysosome the garbage disposal breaks down waste. Ribosome Synthesize proteins A real life exapmle would be a honey bee, because like ribosomes a honey bee produces materials according to the directions given to them. Endoplasmic Reticulum Carries materials throughout the cell and aids in making proteins. A real life example would be a UPS truck because like the Enoplasmic Reticulum a UPS truck transports things. Smooth Endoplasmic Reticulum Important in lipid sythesis Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum Transports proteins Nuclear Envelope Controls movement in and out of the nucleus A real life example would be the skull because like the nuclear envelope the skull only allows certain things in and out of the brain. Cell Wall Support, protection for the cell, and allows water, oxygen, and carbon dioxide to diffuse in and out of the cell A real life exapmle would be a city wall, because like the cell wall the city wall only allows certain things in and out of the city. Cytoplasm Gel-like substance between the cell membrane holding all the cell's organelles in place, except for the nucleus A real life example would be rich, organic soup because like cytoplasm the soup contains an assortment of structures. Chloroplast Uses energy from the sun to make food (glucose) for the plant through photosynthesis, and releases oxygen. A real life example would be solar panels, because like chloroplast the solar panels use the sun to produce energy. Vacuole Stores large amount of food and sugar in plants, and it stores food, water, metabolic waste and toxic waste. A real life example would be a storage warehouse because like the vacuole, the warehouse also stores things. Cilia Cilia are hair-like projections that come out from the side of a cell and they are usually numerous of them. Cilia aide in the movement of the cell by moving the water around the cell top project forward. A real life exapmle would be a row boat team, because like cilia the row boat team moves water past the boat to project the boat forward. Flagellum or Flagella Flagella are like cilia but there is usually just one flagellum at the end of the cell and it is longer than cilia is. A real life example would be legs because like flagellum, legs are used for movement.
