Before the players used shoes boots with clits on the bottom and players would kick with their heel now players in steps.

Officially, there are only allowed to be 10 players plus the goalie on the field at one time. However, there are usually 3 substitutions allowed per game. Youth soccer teams usually only have 6 players plus the goalie on the field.
