was successful and unsuccessful: Failed to reunite the Lutherans, Calvinists, and followers of Henry VIII with the Catholic Church All seven sacraments are valid Salvation comes through both having faith and doing good works inspired by that faith Failures Successes Catholic faith is based in the Bible but also in the Tradition of the Catholic church Christ is really present in the Eucharist The Council of Trent imposed new discipline on the church: Bishops who lived outside their dioceses were ordered to return

Celibacy for priests was upheld

Bishops were ordered to eliminate abuses surrounding the granting of indulgences in their dioceses

There are canons that refer specifically to the doctrines that were reaffirmed by the Council of Trent 4. A Quotation "If any one saith, that by faith alone the impious is justified... [and] that nothing else is required to co-operate in order to the obtaining the grace of Justification, and that it is not in any way necessary, that he be prepared and disposed by the movement of his own will; let him be anathema."
