Baseball History of Baseball It started in the 1860s in the U.S. There are two major leagues: National League and American League. The World Series started in 1903 between the National League and American League. After World War II, integration of African Americans in the major leagues began. Famous Players George Herman Ruth- "Babe"- He was the first player to hit 60 homeruns in one season. Joe Dimaggio- The only player to be selected for All-Star Game every season he played. Jackie Robinson- The first African American to sign a major league contract. Famous MLB Ballparks Fenway Park- Home of the Boston Red Sox Wrigley Field- Home of the Chicago Cubs Dodger Stadium- Home of the Los Angeles Dodgers Yankee Stadium- Home of the New York Yankees
