How Malala Yousafzai is Changing the World
Malala Yousafzai is a brave, 16-year-old young woman from Swat Valley Pakistan (Yousafzai, 2013).
Now that she’s recovered, she has devoted her life to educating the world about the need for women’s rights, especially the right to an education in Middle-Eastern countries (Yousafzai, 2013).
In addition to numerous interviews, Malala chose to write a book about her experiences being oppressed by the Taliban; this book became a best-seller:
Last year, she was shot in the head by the Taliban simply for attending school (Yousafzai, 2013).
India
Currently this book is #1 on the Best-Seller List in India ("Malala . . . Bestsellser," n.d.).

USA
. . . and number 3 in the US ("Malala . . . Bestsellser," n.d.)
Brazil
. . . and number 5 in Brazil ("Malala . . . Bestsellser," n.d.).
U.K.
. . . and number 8 in the U.K. ("Malala . . . Bestsellser," n.d.)
She was even named one of the 100 most influential people by Time Magazine in 2013 ("Malala . . . Bestseller," n.d.).
Among many other peace awards she’s won, she’s been nominated for the 2013 Nobel Peace Award due to the campaigning she’s done for her cause ("Malala . . . Bestsellser," n.d.).

Thesis Statement:
The attention that Malala’s story received has and will continue to educate the world about the need for all humans in all societies around the world to work harder to equalize rights for women. Malala
“believe[s] that a gun has no power at all. Because a gun can only kill. But a pen can give life. A pen can save life” (Yousafzai, 2013, p.67)
.
-And thus Malala has already demonstrated that with education and the ability to communicate, change can happen, and our world can become a better
place.
